Jonglei town raid: 2 people killed, 2 abducted

July 4, 2009 (BOR) – Two people are killed and two children abducted on Sunday following a raid in Bor, the capital of Jonglei State.

The day-time attack in Menymeny, a suburb in northern Bor town and just beyond the cemetery near Block 10, is one of a series of raids that has rocked Jonglei State in the past weeks.

A resident close to the scene of Sunday attack in Bor describes the event as “strange”.

“I heard gunshots and yelling voices,” said a Menymeny resident under anonymity. “I thought it was police or hunters action but it turns out to be strange deadly raid,” the shivering resident added.

Police responded by sending a contingent in a pick-up car to the scene of crime and efforts made to get police statement are futile by press time apart from the fact Jonglei law enforcing agents are always reluctant to release public statement on how the situation is being contained.

The attackers took advantage of today heavy rains to ambush the victims and dashed away with the kids said to be less than 13 years of age.

The Sunday attack in Bor refreshes 2009 memories about security risks residents at the town periphery are exposed to. A couple was murdered and their child abducted in Hai Machuor in 2009 and proprietors remain at large.

Though disarmament has being conducted in Jonglei State in 2010, attacks on villages and army have surge in recent weeks.

On Saturday July 3, 2010, an SPLA vehicle came under attack in Pibor County.
The casualties remain sketchy with sources putting Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) lost at 11 killed and more than 20 wounded when an RPG rocket landed into their lorry.

There are many tribes in the South who know what the SPLM/A has been doing. They always think that SPLa is occupying their land, but the don,t know that the Arabs are our enemy ever since. Murle is one among the tribe who does not know what they are doing in the South. SPLA must disarmed them or occupy their area so that their activities must be monitor. What? “SPLA lost at 11 killed and more than 20 wounded when an RPG rocket landed into their lorry”
Sorry for these weak heart tribes in the South. When there is a war, they like running in the bush. When there is peace, they like complaining about food. What are these coward weak heart people? shit!

The issue of kidnapping Jonglei State has become day-to-date. When will Jonglei be peacefully even though there is peace around all over the country Southern Sudan. Since the war time, Jonglei people were crying for atrocities being committed. Now, peace has come still people are still crying, when the tears of Jonglei people will stop?

I don’t blame the raiders and other criminals to committe crimes because Jonglei state government and Southern Sudan government have fail to solve such problems in jonglei state. If jognlei state people particularly Dinka in jonglei are weeping out/away then all the tribes in Southern Sudan wll be happy because that is what they want.

Government of Southern Sudan has taken jonglei state insecurity as simple but will develop into overthrowing ”Coup de,atate in Southern Sudan in few years to come.

As individual, I wish if Southern Sudan has military police as they usually do in Juba capital, why not doing the same in all Southern Sudan states headquarters to avoid insecurity in those state.

Please! Athor militias are in Jonglei state and many people are still belong to fight for referendum of Southern Sudan, let provide security in jonglei state to avoid another bloodshed in the area.
