By James Gatdet Dak

July 7, 2010 (JUBA) – The high level politically empowered Southern Sudan Referendum Taskforce (SSRT) under the chairmanship of the Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, met on Wednesday to strategize on its role and work on the budget.

The Referendum Taskforce, which is based in Southern Sudan, is different from the recently formed technical Southern Sudan Referendum Commission (SSRC) which is headquartered in Khartoum with branches in Juba and states.

The role of the Taskforce is to give political guidance and mobilize the population to register and vote, among others, including maintenance of security in the region to achieve conduct of a free and fair referendum. This is in carrying out the government’s obligation as the custodian authority under which territory or jurisdiction the plebiscite will take place.

In a press statement after the meeting, the minister of Information, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, said the referendum Taskforce’s Wednesday meeting outlined responsibilities and coordination with some other national and international partners such as the referendum commission and UN agencies.

The overall Taskforce is composed of about nine key ministers in the Government of Southern Sudan and is divided into three sub-committees on the conduct of the referendum, discussions on post-referendum issues and preparations for post-2011 governance in the region. Dr. Marial said in his capacity as the information minister, his responsibility is to see the role of media in the process of the referendum.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of United Nations agencies and consultants during which issues of budgets for the Taskforce were discussed.

A number of countries and UN agencies have revealed their budget proposals in support to the process.

While Wednesday’s meeting was generally about the process of the conduct of the referendum itself, two other meetings of the Taskforce are scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday during which discussions are also expected to include issues of post-referendum arrangements as well as post-2011 governance in the South.

Its a good start, long ago were Jalabas in the North who were master minding everything for the all margins of Sudan. Today its the South Sudan who will think for the future of itself, and Tomorrow Darfurris will follow the foot steps of thier brothers in South Sudan. I am sure by now they will never ever be slaves of religion ideologies which is today used to commit genocide on them. I was told ny one of my Darfuris friend living in Israel that they will never be foooled again by the North Arab magots, instead they will go back to 1916 as an independent kingdom, where they have been ruling themslves for 600 years before joining Sudan of Jallabas. He further said they did very good things for Muslims and Islam but the reward was genocide, rapes. They contributed to built Azhar Islamic University in Cairo, Their grandfathers built wells in Saudia Arabiya and also they were paying yearly some money for Makka, and pilgrimage rituals. Dear poors today they are killed by joint Arab Islamic countries to finish them and occupy their land. Now what dod you expect from them to Do? of course they must go to the enemies of Arabs and Muslims to look for protection. I would have done that if I were in their position.

You guys calling yourselves Taskforce must work hard.

You need to make sure that, everything you are doing is correct and will move people a head to good direction. You must be a thinkers people who can outlines everything that, needed to be done now and for interests of all Southern Sudanese people.

I am not sure if the GOSS have already brought Southern Sudanese people who were being stucking in North Sudan for many decades if not then, why and what happen in almost six years. Supposedly the SPLM in Southern Sudan should have been doing that, since the peace agreement was signed in Kenya. If this plan was not been started yet then, this is absolutely wrong and GOSS must starting right a way this is part of the thing you guys might need to outline in your plan.

Southern Sudanese who were in SAF. Dose the GOSS have a plan on how to solve that problems, because when it come to Southern Sudan’s independence for them, they will have no room in Northern Sudan government and this is the good time for GOSS to make sure that, they call them now to joins brothers in SPLA/ SSAF before anything mess up and it is also a good Idea for GOSS if they have budgets before these Southern Sudanese who were in SAF to be call to join. One can tell that, how large the Southern Sudanese numbers in SAF are, but it doesn’t matter there are many things facing young GOSS and Salve Kiir and his caretakers must do everythings they would to get them out from the rules of dictatorship government of Omar al Bashir. This is part of your outline for those of you groups Taskforce, to make sure that your GOSS will not miss any thing which would affect them later on.

Did the SPLA/SSAF have got enough what I mean is by all terms, if not what are missing need in order for them to make sure they got everything they need and waits to protecting the referendum law which we all wanted to see by all mean. If there are still no plan then, this is your part to know everything because we are all worry about carelessness and we want our people to be better off prepare and these are they things that, I would like to check if the SPLA/SSAF have got all kinds in many terms as you know what I mean by that.

Mobilization on the Villages people, we would like to see many people to volunnteers in all a cross Southern Sudan communities in order for Southern Sudanese Villages to understand that, they have to play a good role when it come to vote for separation or unity and those volunteers people must know how to speak that language clearly and informing them we were been put in second civizens since our indpendence 1956, and now do you want to stay as a secondbcivizens again or have a government that, will listen to you and do what you want. GOSS must have something to supports those who will mobilizing Southerners Sudanese communities so that, they will add their needs in their heart.

Sudan name mean land of Black and I think we all knew that, but my question is that, the GOSS must not let Jur Malual Arab get advantage on who will get more regions and who get a way with disadvantage or less region. Put in mind that, Southern Sudanese must not discriminate others regions if they want to join Southerners Sudanese them, this is what we want from them to do so at least the refuse then, we can not force them to live with us but you guys got to have a grass roots in there.

Before Southern Sudan independence to be announce, does the GOSS already decide what currency have been choosen and did they choose with a carefulness bill.Look It is very difficult to have law enforcement stayed overnight doing their job and get no pay and it is also not acceptable to tell your army that, keep doing your duties on the front line, our currency are still not done yet and for all these reasons this is why the GOSS must fully be prepares in everythings, these few things I would like to tell you guys because you will need now something to outline all kinds of things needed for our future in Southern Sudan and good luck and do everythings right.

Registration and turn out of voters is immense and it is the very best interest of Southern Sudanese Voluntarily in January, 20011 referendum. Let South Sudan Referendum Task-force launch information early so that indigenous Southern Sudanese volunteers will be able to flood the information around.
This is the moment where each and everyone in Southern Sudan is eagerly to deliver information of referendum as possible as they can without even requires anything if am not mistaken.
Thank you South Sudan Referendum Task-force and I wish you to do that job without doubt from the members of the Southern Sudanese Population.
