More than ten people killed in clashes between SPLA and forces of SPLM-DC

July 10, 2010 (RUMBEK/WUNROK) – More than ten people have been killed in recent clashes between the forces of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) and armed groups said to be allied to the breakaway Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – Democratic Change (SPLM-DC).

SPLA_in_Rumbek.jpgThe SPLA official spokesperson, Major General Kuol Deim Kuol, said his forces on Friday attacked two locations of the armed group of the SPLM-DC in Upper Nile state. SPLM-DC is headed by the former Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin.

“Yesterday on Friday July 9, 2010, there were criminals belonging to SPLM-DC who established two bases of militias center in Western Bank of River [Nile]. Our force attacked their position resulting into killing of militias group as well as military equipment seized by our SPLA and both two centers were completely destroyed,” Kuol said.

The villages comprised of Okel in Kodok area and Alel of Lul were areas established by the SPLM-DC militias and we have attack them and more military equipments including 6 AKM rifles, solar fan and generator were seized during an attack,” explained the SPLA spokesman.

He said that 11 armed militia members were killed by the SPLA forces as well as three people from SPLA forces sustained injuries.

Kuol however added that the situation in the Western Bank of the river is back to normal as the army was pursuing the militias.

Kuol accused the northern dominant National Congress Party (NCP) of supporting the SPLM-DC militias operations in Southern Sudan to disturb peace in the region.

“Those militias disturbing South Sudan security are military wing of the SPLM-DC and their support came directly from Lam Akol in Khartoum. Lam himself gained support from Khartoum government and I need to ensure everyone that SPLA is not sleeping, we are protecting our civilians from any attacks,” he said.

The militia’s commander, Colonel Guang Robert was reported to have been wounded in his arm and “now he is on the run with his few left forces toward forest and our SPLA forces are pursuing him…and I have confidence that he will be brought to book without failure,” he further explained.

SPLM-DC leaders in Khartoum could not be reached for comment by Sudan Tribune.

Who does Lam Akol want to liberate from repression? A beggar doesn,t even know whether, in future he may have potential to give.

He is one of think tank deployed by the NCP to destroy southern sudan because of his greed for economics and political interests.

In this regard, he had already committed politcal suicide and he is dead man working.I do believe these are just his kinship militias and felt sorry for their souls.

Please, come to SPLM and serve in the South other you will die like wild dog. Thanks

SPLA needs a new spokesman than what it has now. Kuol Diem always exaggerates information about real conditions on the ground. He should also be more vague about his statements so that human rights organizations don’t get ideas about SPLA’s actions.

Lam has right to protect his party. If you are being hated you need to defend yourself. The ignorance of some GOSS gangs would be accountable for this act. Why do we always see Lam as an enemy? He is one of us and he want to exercise his policy like everyone else, I advice you empty head minister in the government of sick services to stop seeing lam as southern foe. Kiir and his culprit ministers didn’t put an omission forward to enhance Lam as our fellow southern. For sake don’t carrying the stereotype of considering lam as a traitor. People can’t be discouraged from joining Lam, it is political choice and this will prove as a democratic nation. Your idea and opinion is different to your parents as the fact we must not force people to have monopoly system of government in South.

Discouragement of Lam political party will worsen the situation and even confused us from progressing to 2011. Leave Lam alone, the best solution is vote. Votes from people will prove who is right to lead the people in South, if we believe in democratic we should stay away from interfacing with DC. The more SPLA keep pursuit of DC the worse we put ourselves in trouble. Because fight of two elephants has massive outcomes on the surrounding area, let’s focus on Abeyi and 2011 referendum. This is what I have been talking about, we the ignorant ministers in the government of sick services, we talk of democratic, however when we come to prove it. The result can’t even be 0.5% of democratic standard. People talk about something they can’t maintain or tolerate to meet the fundamental principles of democratic. Big Shame to have those blackarabs in South, all from Lake, upper, Jonglei, blue and etc disaster are been caused by disgusting dinkas. DInkas are second class arabs in Sout. But I warn you to abandon this madness before the clock hits 20:11, If i can go apart from own parents why not moron people.
