July 16, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir said this week that he hopes that the next FIFA world cup will be won by his country’s soccer squad.
“We will provide the environment so that we are represented in the next world cup similar to Spain” Bashir said.
Spain won the FIFA world cup hosted by South Africa last month and replaced Brazil at the top of the most recent FIFA World Ranking released on Wednesday.
“The next [world cup] final [game] will be between Sudan and Ghana….The next world cup will be taken by those dark Sudanese” Bashir said.
Sudan has never made to the world cup and qualified for the African Cup of Nations just once in three decades. It ranks 121 on the FIFA ranking of soccer teams worldwide.

It’s good to be over optimistic but winning world cup final requires more than just simple words of the mouth. To get to the world cup itself the team has to win their regular matches to qualify. My other question what does Al-Bashir meant by “those dark Sudanese”? Is he acknowledging that the Sudanese are finally Africans after years of denial?

Our president outdoes himself every time with his grand announcements. What prevented Sudan from qualifying for a world in South Africa? Even the goddamn North Korean showed before being humiliated 7-0. Sudan is not as closed to the outside world as DPRK is but it has not produced a respectable team.
Instead of kissing Egypt’s team rear end and awarding them cars, you should invest that money into playing grounds for poor children who undoubtedly will be more motivated to make it in soccer.

Well, if he means dark skin,then he means south Sudan and Ghana and i am proud of that.But if on the other hand he means backwardness,then i am sorry Ghana is not back ward as the case is with Sudan under Arab hostile rule.
We Sudanese also have to prepare to win the world cup(court) between ICC and AU venue at the Hague which is due to be announced.
