Mbeki urges CPA partners to respect outcome of southern referendum

By Bonifacio Taban Kuich

August 13, 2010 (BENTIU) – The former South African president, Thabo Mbeki, who also heads the African Union Panel for Sudan, has called on the partners to the 2005 north-south peace deal to respect the outcome of the upcoming referendum in southern Sudan.

Mbeki made the remarks on a visit to Bentiu the capital of Unity state Thursday with the former Burundian President, Pierre Bomboya. He reminding the northern ruling National Congress Party (NCP) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM)who govern the south to abide by the agreement.

His visit to Unity state and some other areas in Sudan, Mbeki said, was to support the smooth conduct of the referendum as well as demarcate the north-south borders as they stood in January 1956.

Mbeki expressed the importance of submitting the border demarcation report to the Presidency.

The delegation assured the southern Sudanese of the full support of the African Union to the process of the referendum to take place on time and in a free and fair manner. The African Union, United Nations and other international organizations such as the Carter Center are to observe the process.

He said the African Union had asked the Government of Southern Sudan to ensure the possibility of movement of nomadic tribes along the borders and their security.

“We are encouraged to note that the two CPA signatories have created structures to negotiate post-referendum arrangements, which are crucial to a peaceful future, whatever the outcome of the referendum. However we are concerned at the late establishment of these structures, and the absence of international communities, civil society [organizations] and other actors, which could lead to a lack of transparency and inclusiveness,” Mbeki said.

President Kiir please keep away the slice named Thabo Ben Mbeki from South Sudan. Don’t you know that he is a very close to Janjaweed Commander in Cheif and Internationally Wanted Criminal Bashir? Mbeki was first sent by NCP to fuck up the cause of people of Darfur, regionally and internationally. When he succeeded to drive it in slow motion; he is now sent by NCP for another mission to kill the referandum.

Don’t believe anything that he says; haalf of Sudan electric corporation belongs to him and Bashir. Please anyone who is suspicious of what I say must go and investigate. Kiir; do you think that someone failed in examinations of freedon fighting in South Africa would be able to succeed anywhere else????? Hapana!!!!!

    Southerners,
I wonder what Arabs give to those they like for example this former South African president who resigned some years back infact when there was political confusions and riots in his country. He is an African by birth but an Arab inside nothing please me from all his statements. I thought he was in Sudan for Darfur problems. So far, no change from there(Darfur). I therefore beg our leaders(Southernrs only) to full up socks not be cheated again. If they lost this time it will be tatol mess.
    God help us!!!!
