Lakes state governor announces new counties commissioners

August 16, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The governor of Lakes state, Chol Tong Mayay has issued appointment of eight Counties commissioners. This is after the Southern Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit had relieved commissioners a week ago.
However, the appointment of the new commissioners has met criticisms from public who accuse the authorities of imposing officials on the people.
In the decree No.12/2010 read out by Lakes state minister of Information and Communication, Marik Nanga Marik, the governor appointed the following as new counties commissioners.
1. Isaac Mayom Malek, new commissioner replacing John Madhang Majok in Cueibet.
2. Deng Mathiang Deng, new commissioner replacing Mr. Isaac Mayak Noah at Rumbek North County.
3. Mr. Gideon Shilur Mbele new commissioner replacing Mr. Simon Waiwai Ali at Wulu County.
4. Mr. David Marial Gumke, reappointed, for Rumbek East County.
5. Mr. Matur Majok Magol, new commissioner replacing Mr. Dut Makoi Kuok at Rumbek Central County.
6. Makur Kulang Lai, new Commissioner replacing Mr. Dairdit Bol Dak at Yirol West County
7. Bullen Bol Achinbai, new commissioner replacing Mr. Athian Majak Maloi at Yirol East County.
8. David Mayom Riak, new commissioner replacing Mr. Simon Aguto Kok at Awerial County.
The public reacts negatively toward Awerial County newly appointed Commissioner, Mr. David Mayom Malek after having hard news over local radio broadcast on Sunday night. This prompted students and local chiefs of Awerial community to walk long distances to meet SPLM State Secretary, Samuel Mathiang Keer, in his office to demand the withdrawal of the decree.
Abraham Nhier, speaking by phone, said that “this commissioner is very young probably about 28 years old – this man did not contribute during our bloody struggle with Khartoum government regime. As youth leader of Awerial County, I totally refuse to welcome Mayom in this soil of Awerial suffering community”.
However, paramount chief Nhial Kon, affirmed that “this appointment of Mayom Malek has sent into our mind a bad signal – my community does not know this guy called Mayom – If governor Chol Tong thinks that Mayom is good to be Awerial County commissioner, it is better for Chol to appoint Mayom to be Agaar county commissioner instead of Awerial county. This morning, we youth and chief of Awerial County wrote to Governor plus SPLM State Secretary to consider our demand to withdraw back such decree”.
My community of Awerial had recommended only people to be candidate for commissionership position including Mr. Andrew Ayeu, Mr. Michael Madit, Mr. Daniel Mamer and Mr. Jok Simon, these people above knew our daily problem and actually the suffer with us here during our struggle with Khartoum bombardment “said paramount chief Kon.
His also added that Mayom cannot govern people of Aliap at all levels, if governor Chol chosen him to rule Rumbek then, that is find with him but if his chosen him to govern Awerial, this is a big mistake – we community had voted for Chol Tong as our governor and we dream that Governor Chol should understand our living condition standard.
Marik Nanga Marik, Lakes state minister of Information and Communication reply allegation, saying that “this decree has being issue out at the right time and it is the best decree that had satisfy everyone – there is no way that Mr. Governor could revise his decree”.
Meanwhile, SPLM State Secretary, Samuel Mathiang Keer, noted that “this appointment of counties commissioners was made under heavy [wider] consultations with community, I wonder why Awerial people are rejecting the appointment of their fellow man – there is no solution to revise governor’s decree since this appointment is already announced.”

Will Bullen Bol of Yirol east county protect the enter community ? I’m not going to judged him by now but what I would like to tell him is the security of they civilians . Don’t be blind false by the so- called policy disbarment of the government because what Atuot tribe of yirol west county has done two weeks ago shouldn’t be ignore community youths must to rearm themselves up to teeth so that they can resist any aggression.
What I would like to add again is to any domestics mammal or humans being who happen to be from Atuot tribe must to leave Ciec swap land because they are just such a typically of Dog who confiscate in the plate when it once ate in, where on earth will you polluted the land which has once accommodated you ( yajamma) if that is not done by useless parasitic Atuot tribe. Gone are the days where you worshipped colony rule to let you take advance on other who didn’t bow down to them but these days are different , if land is measure base on it natural resources sure Ciec land is comparison with Scottish land which were developed whole United Kingdom given it richness in natural resources it is going to lift all lakes counties in term of economic significance and this what we will wouldn’t allow the commissioners to leave the space for gangs of thugs to robe freely in a county .
Last but not the least it is on Atuot side either to leave in peace or in trouble the choice is their.

Ladies and gentlemen,
I already know how good Awerial people are, but I would like to induce them to get calm about the appointment of David Mayom Malek as Awerial commissioner.
Being young does not mean a failure to maintain the rules, but means good enough to rule. Imagine, British Prime Minister Mr. David Cameron is about 44 years now, yet he is being prioritized to rule the United Kingdom.
Never mind about Mayom’s alien, he wouldn’t have been elected commissioner if he was a foe. Therefore you need to add your excel to his wisdom so that he becomes a better commissioner. Malek should know that all who oppose you are not your enemies, but they are your brothers, so think of how you convince them and help lakes becomes a better State, thus you should not work with your own interest as others did. Young people are supposed to be leaders today!!

Welcome to Yirol and let us work for unity of our people and together we can bury tribalism, nepotism and many other levels that differentiate us. let’s us be one tribe, one government and one county. before everything let Makur Kulang take 90% of his pigs out from Yirol. i think you know very well who are to be indicted for war crimes committed in Yirol County. i don’t want to write their names here . second to it am not against anyone but we can have strong legal system that can bring any one even a commissioner to face the charges within the county not state level. this charge can avoid his/her sons & daughters not to participate in the future. and thanks

Complaining about someone’s ability to work efficiently or less known in the county in not all correct. The fact is that this guy is a son of Lakes state from Awerial county and he deserves governor appointment. The governor is the one to blame in case of failure and it’s not that shouting greedy politicians or chiefs as the writer put some.

Bravo to The Governor and this is not the long lasting solution to the insecurity of Lakes and in particular Greater Yirol. This is just “like putting a new wine in the old bottles” believe or not you will still see the situation resurface again in Lakes. The issue of greater Yirol is being instigated by some individuals who don’t want harmony in Greater Yirol and God will not forgive them for the atrocities they have caused to our innocent people. To the Awerial community chiefs and Youth that claimed they don’t this beloved son of theirs’ and I see this is the only way they should know him and study his personality critically for future leadership because it is too late now the decree to reserve by the appointing Authority (Governor) . Congratulations to the new commissioners and I hope you will bring tremendous positive changes in Lakes.
