SABMiller to double beer production in Southern Sudan
August 21, 2010 (JUBA) — SABMiller, producer of White Bull Lager announced today plans to double its beer production in southern Sudan by the end of the current year.
Operating in five continents, except Australia, SABMiller is one of the world’s largest brewers with a wide portfolio of brands includes premium international beers. The international firm invested last year $37 million to establish its subsidiary in the semi-autonomous region, “Southern Sudan Beverages Ltd (SSBL)”.
The SSBL said its production of beer will increase from 180,000 to 350,000 per year by the end of 2010. The firm further announced a five-fold increase in soft drinks capacity, to 320,000 hectoliters from the current 60,000 limit.
On the other hand the brewer intends to develop its sales in the other states of southern Sudan.
Crafted to meet the tastes of the Southern Sudanese consumer, the White Bull “has had a very warm welcome to the country and our beer, soft drinks and water brands have found real traction with consumers,” said the managing director of SABMiller’s Southern Sudan Beverages Ltd, Ian Alsworth-Elvey.
“We have sold more beer in the first three months of our second year of operation than we did in the first nine months since production began,” Ian stressed.

Wooooow
48.5%(170000 per year) increase in production SABmiller. that is quite an increase. it also means that the market for white bull beer, and other products in southern sudan is strong. there is no competition at all so that will be a total monopoly and the demand and supply curve really will look trendy for the investor of those $37millions(i reckon they reached the breakeven point already) and marketers.

To SABMiller and SSBL,
This is not the right time to increase production output of ‘WHITE BULL’.It should happened after referandum and when we are enjoying our full peace divident.Increasing production now, will deflect the attantion of our GALLANT ARMY,SPLA from SAF activities. We want to put them on full alert. They will be drunk too much and this will make them less responsive to enemy activities.

I would welcome the idea at thise because our economy is poor, lot of people have no jobs and the government need tax for development.
However in long term period such industries will be decrease, kids this day are into crazy life, drinking and cause fatal along the business of Boda boda, soldier are wasting their salaries on beer, offical would spend their breakfast on beer and all negative stuff are happening as result of beer.
