Lagu’s appointment as Presidential Advisor welcomed by SPLM-NS
By Ngor Arol Garang
August 19, 2010 (RENK) – The appointment of the former president of the regional high executive council, Joseph Lagu Nyanga, as special advisor to President of the autonomous region of southern Sudan has been welcomed by a representative from the northern branch of the party that governs the region.
The regions President – and Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) – Salva Kiir Mayardit announced his new advisors in August 18.
Lagu was the leader of the southern movement which rebelled against the central government before signing the 1972 Addis Ababa agreement. He became President of the High Executive Council of the Southern Sudanese Autonomous Regional Assembly in 1978.
Aleu Deng Jok, a member of the SPLM – Northern Sector (SPLM-NS) told Sudan Tribune that appoint Ladu as a special Advisor to the President, was one of the wise decisions President Kiir has ever taken.
“The appointment of General Lagu means a lot to us and our enemies. It is one of the best and wise decisions our president has ever taken”, said Jok.
As a long serving southern leader Jok said that there is a lot to be learned from Ladu’s experience of the 1972 peace agreement and dealing with the central government.
“I am happy about his appointment because I believe he has details of what led to the abrogation of Addis Ababa agreement which can help SPLM and the government of southern Sudan in dealing with current holdups,” in the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the SPLM and the ruling National Congress Party, he said.

Dear Readers,
Joseph Lagu Nyanga was a veteran politician. He was the Anya Anya I paramount leader. But south sudan Anya Nya I leadership was betrayed by William Deng Nhial’s abrupt defection to Jellaba at the time.
Joseph Lagu Nyanga’s regional high executive council leadership was again betrayed by Abel Alier once the 1972 Addis Ababa Peace Accord was signed. Now, Kiir is dragging him into his already miserable leadership at this late hour of the CPA.
Why at time when almost everything about the CPA is messed up by the same corrupted, worst betrayals in south sudan? Part of the reasons for the 1972( Addis Ababa agreement) abrogation was the divisions among south sudanese leadership; same like what’s going on now among south sudanese.
This would have been the best and wise decision Kiir ever made if it was 2005, the beginning of the CPA. Kirr rarely makes best and wise leadership decisions since his accidental leadership.

Dear South Sudanese,
We welcome Joseph Lagu to SPLM/A because he contribution in the NCP as Bashier adviser has been the benefit of Jallaba for years. I hope he will distant himself from NCP support because SPLM/A had liberated the South Sudan,so this time is the time for anybody who fought or never fought. SPLM/A oyee.
Thanks
Richie

Don’t bring this topic of Dinka up you morons. We all know what is going on and after referendum, we will clean up the mess. Let us patiently wait for the referendum to complete then we addressed our leadership problems. We are still fighting the BIG FISH (Arabs) in the north.
