Unity state approve health insurance bill for civil servants

August 29, 2010 (BENTIU)- The Health Minister of Unity state, Deborah Kur Manyal, announced on Friday that health insurance has been introduced for civil servants working the southern state.
Manyal told Sudan Tribune the policy was important to encourage health coverage to civil servants in the state.
Unity state’s council of ministers approved the insurance bill of national staff to cover their medical care. Previously Unity state employees did not have any health coverage.
State Council of Ministers chaired by the State deputy governor William Dawut Riak, came up with final bill.
The state government will contribute 4 percent and the government of Southern Sudan 6 percent.
State employees will contribute 25 percent of the insurance scheme out of their monthly salaries.
State minister for Information and Communication Gideon Gapan Thoar said:
“We as during the council of ministers, which was held on August 27, 2010 came up, each and every person who is government employees should be cover by the national health insurance policy. The importance of this idea to our staffs in various ministries is to make sure when someone and his or her families [feel] sick, he or she would be treated accordingly.”

Unity state is now better off under Taban Deng Gai which could have been a failure if it was under the Angelina Teny.
What is quite clear is that for any leader among Nuer to be successful he must have had Dinka name or connection. It is a must!
Can anyone explain to me why is that? Is it genes or some malfunction somewhere in Nuer community?

the iniative of providing health insurance for civil servants in unity state is a positive step toward betterment of health for small group group in the state but it is a half cooked scheme.
first there is 4,6,and 25 percentage contributions; where will the 65 percent come from? secondly if unity state want a convenient health service it should begin with the basics. first basic schools which will produce future doctors, secondly hospitals with excellence medical service, and thirdly a university or and some nursery than that scheme will be successfull otherwise the bill is just waste of paper and energy and can not be actualized.
