Two Russian pilots abducted in South Darfur – army
August 29, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – Two Russian pilots have been abducted Sunday by unknown gunmen in the capital of South Darfur state, the Sudanese army said this evening.
The two pilots are working for Badr Airlines, a private airliner based in Khartoum and known for operating cargo and passenger air services for humanitarian aid provided by UN agencies in the restive region of Darfur.
The abductors captured the pilots and escaped into the neighbourhood embarking on a Land Cruiser.
Government forces have cordoned off the suspected places in Nyala in an attempt to find the abducted pilots and their kidnappers, Sudan Armed Forces spokesperson Al-Sawarmi Khalid told the official news agency (SUNA).
South Darfur state also mobilized all its security apparatus to arrest the offenders.
Last month, a Russian pilot working for the Russian airline UTair and operating under a UN contract was gone missing after a helicopter emergency landing. The Russian special envoy to Sudan Mikhail Margelov claimed that pro-government militias were behind the abduction.
The pilot who was reportedly beaten by the militias was later released and returned safely.

Russians are the headache to this nation. So let any problem not be a national worry. The Kremlins must accept any dissarray to their nationals as a reward to their double standard.

We should our self ask a legal question that .why the majority of kidnapping cases occur in south Darfur state? Where it governor preach us, on daily bases that security situation under control, why the culprits choosing the daytime and town centre as a fit place for targeting their victims? What is the relationship between releasing the American humanitarian after tow month of taking hostage and abducting Russian pilots in same day? Somehow I agree with Russian special envoy to Sudan who broke the silence by pointing finger to government militias for perpetuating the abduction, but why doesn’t accuse directly the government for involvement in these heinous issues, while, the government is responsible for the militias as well as assurance of foreign workers security in towns. The humanitarian abduction cases amounting speedily after government announcement of new strategy for Darfur, which mean forcible dismantlement IDPs camps , escalate the security situation on ground and terrorize the international worker to pull out the region, it seems kasha is the first to implement this strategy so when the international community act to defend it presence in Darfur.
