September 5, 2010 (BENTIU) – On Friday the Governor of Unity State, Taban Deng Gai, selected three screening committees to handle the employment of highly qualified staff, and the removal of less qualified staff in all ministries.

The screening labor forces consist of three people, headed by Awut Deng Acuil, the State Minister of Labor and Public Services and has been authorized by Gai. On Friday the Council of Ministers, instated a policy that will ensure that employment issues will be handled by the task forces.

“Those unqualified staff be replaced by qualified staff” said Acuil. Those with higher qualifications will be recognized and promoted, according to the public services labour law. The official recommendations of all staff with higher qualification certificates will be completed by Acuil himself.

The Finance Minister and Commerce, Thomas Jal Kume said he was awaiting the submission of “their [ministerial workers] official files to be sent to the Ministry of Labour and Public’s Services for proper adjustment of employee’s payment.”

Kume urged the three committees to speed up their work as it will impact upon the Southern Sudan budget plans of 2010.

Gideon Gatpan Thoar, State Minister of Information and Communication said that the work will be completed by 7th September 2010. Thoar said, ”This policy will develop a proper structure in the state, especially for those staff with higher qualifications, in order for them to get a better job.”

Thanks Mr. Gov. Taban & Ms Awut for your brilliant idea. I do really appreciate your strategic plan. As a matter of fact, people work so hard during their schooling in order to service their country with their knowledge they invest, but their professional jobs are given to those who don’t have knowledge about it. I believe people or politicians like Governor Taban and Ms Awut Deng are kinds of people we Southerners should support in whatever position they want.

I’m so sorry to hear this comment agenda from the Former Extremist Rebel so call Taban Deng Gai. To me, I don’t see the different between a qualified staff and a less qualified Staff(iliterate people). All of them are all citizens of Sudan and they should have to be treated equally and without discrimination being rounded on the less qualified staff as mentioned by the Unity State Former Extremist.

If we removed the less qualified staff in all ministries positions, where should we employed these less qualified staff? If Taban Deng Gai is the one suggested this agenda, then that is fine with me anyway, but Awut Deng Achuil has to start screening first in the position of Taban Deng Gai himself before she go and do screening on the others less qualified people’s position. If she does that, then that is fair enough, and if not, then that is unfair for Taban Deng Gai and Awut Deng Achuil to go under this process.

Thank you Mr governor Taban Deng Gai for your selecting screening committee that are going to handle removal unqualified staffs and replace their positions with qualify staffs instead. It s a good idea, but another hand it will bring backfire and stress to these people minds. Those people who are going to be removed because of their limitation qualification, wouldn’t believe you with those whom you think that they are better than them, because the experiences that those unqualified staffs people have is better than those qualify staffs without experiences.

Make good review before your authority office decided to remove them in their respective offices.
Also, Make sure that we have been behind in education field due to both 21 years of civil war in southern Sudan and marginalisation strategies.
Don’t discourage them, but encourage them to double their efforts.

    Thanks

The screening is sound good but let it not be affecting only junior staffs alone. Those ministers including Awut Deng should also produce their papers which qualified them to be ministers in their respective positions or otherwise we will just be targeting innocence people and leaving unqualified Ministers like Awut to still confuse the GOSS and the people of South Sudan.
