September 12, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — An Iranian auto manufacturer will establish in Sudan a plant to produce some 35,000 cars in the next five years, a private new agency reported from Teheran.

The second largest carmaker in Iran signed a deal with a Sudanese delegation on Saturday to build a factory in Sudan to produce different car models, Moj news agency said.

“Saipa’s successful presence in the Sudanese market in the past persuaded us to build a factory to produce our cars there,” said CEO of Saipa Nematollah Poustindouz,

“Our plan is to sell cars in Sudan and eventually launch our products in its nine neighboring countries,” he added.

The Iranian firm assembles French cars from Renault, Peugeot and Citroen. Also Saipa with another public Iranian auto maker, Iran Khodro, produce Japanese cars like Nissan, Mazda.

Import of foreign car has been banned in Iran since the Islamic revolution of 1979.

The company is not intended to produce cars put to develop weapons of mass destructions. A few days ago the NCP announced its intention to possess nuclear reactor projects. It’s essential to mention here that; Sudan has repeatedly supported Iran’s nuclear program in it’s public rhetoric and Ayatollah Khamanei told Al-Bashir that, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to transfer it’s experience and technology to the friendly Countries.
