September 18, 2010 (BENTIU) — AECOM International delegates arrived in Ganyliel airstrip, in Panyinjiar county and offered assistance to the county.

The team which was headed by Marve Koop, the Executive Director of AECOM International met the commissioner on Friday at his office.

Peter Gai Jaok, the current commissioner received the delegates warmly. Jok told Sudan Tribune that the delegation’s visit was a sign of hope to the county.

The two parties discussed the support to the county in an effort to contribute to the reduction of violence in the area. The County has been faced by a lot of instabilities for many years despite the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in 2005.

AECOM is a global economic and infrastructure development firm composed of professionals with diverse areas of expertise and a common goal: to deliver effective solutions to today’s critical challenges in emerging countries. The group also works in the areas of democracy and governance and crisis response and stabilization.

The firm which has worldwide activities was formed by the combination of PADCO, a Washington, DC-based AECOM subsidiary, and TSG, an Arlington, Virginia, international development services firm.

AECOM international team assured the County commissioner that the border posts will be constructed; Mr. Marv the head of the AECOM Director said that they are fully committed to the border station amendment.

The meetings of border post station were purposed and seem to have been the ideal solution to the ongoing cattle rustling. If constructed will reduce the crimes involving cattle raiders between the bordering counties of Lake state as well as to improve security in the areas.

Marv said, “That they will support the county in terms of construction of structures such as commissioner’s office and traditional chief offices at the County head quarter.”

EACOM said also they will support the youth at the county level by providing vocational and technical training and construct Communities Youth Centers. This will empower the youth as well as increase their capacity building and also creating more jobs to the youth. The youth idleness also contributed to involvement in crimes, like cattle raiding.

Col. Jok welcomed the AECOM delegation for their commitment in promising the support to the county.

The commissioner also said he will put all the resources at his disposal to unite his county citizens towards the forth coming referendum due to happen next January 9, 2011.
