Forgiveness is crucial require in Sudan before Referendum

September 22, 2010 (RUMBEK) – A government official has said that forgiveness is crucial for the people of Sudan as they journey towards the referendum slotted for January 2011. Lakes state political advisor, Marko Chol Maciec, who speaks during the launching of 101 days for prayer organize by Catholic Diocese of Rumbek.

Maciec call upon all Sudanese people to approach the referendum in an attitude of “peace, unity and forgiveness”, challenging the congregation to be ready to forgive those who have oppressed them for many years in order to get a new nation which he called “Kuch”.

However, advisor Meciec affirmed that voter registration exercise will start in three weeks time; his urge all Southern Sudanese and Lakes state population particular from aged 18 years and above to seize the opportunity to be register. Chol emphasized the necessity of registration and actual voting, explaining that registration will give the people of Southern Sudan the opportunity and power to vote at the referendum.

The Commissioner of Rumbek Central County, Matur Majok Magol, also appreciate launching event of 101 days, thanked the Church for organizing the 101 days of prayer, adding that the theme of the initiative, “Change your heart, Change the world,” will help the Sudanese people in the transition from an indecent past life to a better life for the Southern Sudanese that will be achieved at the referendum.

The “101 days of prayer towards the referendum in Sudan” is a prayer initiative with the aim to enhance peace among the people in Sudan the period before, during and after the referendum.

Chol Tong Mayay, Governor of Lakes state said that more effort are being categorize by his master plan to make sure referendum is achieved without preference room of trouble of insecurity on countdown to referendum.

Tong said that “Yes, your government, that you have elected in April election is working hard to achieve referendum is favor of Southern Sudan – the favor of you people who voted to SPLM in April election was only separation and of course your idea of separation is hundred percent welcome by state government and protection is solution number one which my cabinet will shoulder well to protect you all as citizens of South Sudan during voting day of separation and after”.

South and North will be good neighboring states although we Southerners could separate from Khartoum government regime, we are separating because rights are not respected in Khartoum and all powers are controlled by central government through injustice manner “his said.

In separate report: A workshop targeting government employees in Lakes State concluded today on Tuesday. The two-day workshop was organized by Southern Sudan Employee Justice Chamber.

Joseph Akot Mabor is the director of Southern Sudan Employee Justice Chamber in Lakes State, said that his office thought it wise to invite consultants from Wau to help address challenges faced by government officers.

Simon Lanya Mude, a facilitator at the workshop, said the workshop drew together Director Generals, Directors of various Ministries, and the Commissions.

Ogeno Justin Oyiet, a consultant for Southern Sudan Employee Justice Chamber told reaffirmed that, the workshop focused on four models, that is, poor performance in government institutions, grievances and disciplinary procedures, management of discipline among government officers, and employer-employee organizations.

Mr. Oyiet further said that the government officers at the workshop participated actively, adding that they appreciated the government initiative to train them.

Mr. Oyiet urged those who participated at the workshop to put into practice the skills acquired, encouraging them to share this knowledge with government officers who did not attend the training.

The workshop by Southern Sudan Justice Employee Chamber in Lakes State is the seventh in a series of trainings targeting all the ten states of Southern Sudan.

50 participants during the work group presentation were talking in caution manners, fearing their top bosses (ministers). Director his requested to be unnamed said that “there are people who does not respect us at all few ministries institutions because the assumed ministers who requested their employment as their direct bosses, although you tell him to explain few reason of his mistakes, his just overlooked you and immediately his walk straight to minister directly sidling you at rubbish”.
