Sudan issues tender for 600,000 barrels of Nile blend crude
September 26, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudan Petroleum company (Sudapet) issued a tender this week for the sale of 600,000 barrels of heavy sweet Nile Blend crude for November loading, according to traders who spoke to Reuters.
The tender will close on September 28.
Last month, Sudapet sold via tender a 600,000-barrel cargo to Chinaoil at around $4.20 a barrel below Minas Indonesia Crude Price (ICP).
Output at the Greater Nile project, where Nile Blend is produced, has fallen below 180,000 barrels per day (bpd), well off the field’s 325,000 bpd peak.
Nile Blend Crude Oil is a paraffinic crude oil with a high wax content, high pour point (+30°C to +36°C) and high wax appearance temperature (+39°C and above). It requires careful handling during loading, carriage and discharge with regard to the cargo temperature.
