Sudanese minister of justice receives American chargé d’affaires
KHARTOUM, May 9, 2004 (SUNA) — Minister of Justice Ali Mohammed Osman Yassin discussed with the American Chargé d’Affaires to Sudan, Gerar Galluci, means of improvement of relations between Khartoum and Washington, boosting relations between the Ministry of Justice and the American Embassy as well as issues relating to rule of law.
Following his meeting with the American Charge d’Affaires Sunday, Yassin said in press statement that the meeting tackled developments of situation in Darfur.
On the fact-finding Committee on Darfur formed by the President of the Republic, the Minister said that the importance of the committee emanates from the fact that it is a neutral one to reach neutral results, on whose light decisions are to be issued.
On the Commission set up by the African Union, the Minister said the task of the Commission is to monitor the cease-fire and implementation of N’djamena agreement.
The American Chargé d’Affaires, on his part, said in a press statement that US support the peace process in Sudan, adding that his country gives special concern to the situations in Darfur, including the human rights situation.
