U.S. renews warning to its citizens on travel to Sudan

October 1, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – The U.S. State Department on Friday renewed its warning to its citizens against travel to Sudan citing “uncertain security conditions and the possibility of violence and harassment targeting westerners”.

DOS.jpgThe advisory notes that this travel warning replaces the one issued on December 31, 2009, to update security concerns.

“The Department of State continues to warn U.S. citizens that travel anywhere in Sudan is potentially dangerous. U.S. citizens and citizens of European countries have been victims of kidnappings, carjackings, and armed robberies while travelling in Sudan. Armed militias have instigated sporadic violence and attacked locations in Southern Sudan. Threats have been made against foreigners working in the oil industry in Upper Nile state. Land travel at night should be avoided” the U.S. State Department said.

“Travel in the Darfur region is particularly dangerous, as clashes between Sudanese government forces and various armed militias continue. The risk of kidnapping is high. In recent months, a U.S. citizen was kidnapped while working for an NGO in Darfur, and German government employees were abducted from a government compound in Darfur,”

Travelers are reminded that the U.S. government has received information on terrorist threats against U.S. and European interests in Sudan. Terrorist actions may include suicide operations, bombings, and kidnappings. U.S. citizens should be aware of the risk of indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets in public places, including tourist sites and locations where expatriates are known to congregate, and commercial operations associated with U.S. or European interests. Anti-U.S. and European demonstrations occur periodically, mostly in the capital city of Khartoum”.

Terrorist actions may include suicide operations, bombings, and kidnappings. All these acts the Islamists in Sudan have never stopped them since five years back but it was because most of them were on their own people.Today because they are in a brink of collapse and threatened as well by the International Community on referandum then they decide to kill even chinese because they believe that they betrayed them in UNSC resolution against Sudan.

The International community to curb such acts not to include Africa, as Sudan governemnt has created good relations with the neighboring countries that include Chad, Central African Republic, Eritria and Ethiopia; they must must intervene urgently in Sudan at least to stop the genocide that will happen in a very near future.
