NCP calls on Kiir to withdraw his support for South Sudan separation

September 2, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The dominant National Congress Party today called on the chairman of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement and head of the Southern Sudan government (SPLM) to withdraw his statements in favor of the independence of the semi-autonomous region.

Speaking following his return from the USA where he attended a high level meeting on the referendum implementation, Kiir who is also the First Vice President of the Sudan said personally he will opt for Southern Sudan separation if he has to choose between unity or independence.

It also occurs under growing tension between the two peace partners of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) on the date of the referendum and threats by the National Congress Party to not recognize the outcome of the referendum.

Rabie Abdelati, NCP senior official, in statements to Reuters, rejected Kiir’s remarks supporting separation of southern Sudan saying it is “totally unacceptable”. “He has gone against the CPA which said the parties should work together for unity,” Abdelati emphasized.

The senior NCP official who participated in the negotiations of the peace agreement called on Kiir to withdraw the comments and repeated earlier threats from NCP ministers that the party might not recognize the referendum if the SPLM tried to force a separation vote.

Abdelati accused the SPLM chairman of trying to influence the vote of southerners in the upcoming referendum.

Kiir in the past alluded several times for his support to the establishment of an independent state in the south but this is the first time he declares openly his support for separation.

Kiir’s support for Southern Sudan separation come weeks before a meeting of the SPLM leadership where the party has to decide on the way forward and determine its stance on the referendum which should take place in January 2011.

NCP calls on Kiir to withdraw his support for South Sudan separation
NCP/NIF calls on president Kiir to withdraw his support for South Sudan separation is baseless and irresponsible demand, president Kiir will not determent whether to vote for unity or separation, because the people of South Sudan are the one how will decide their future not Kiir.

Why should SPLM only work for unity? Did NCP/NIF work for unity? I believe that NCP/NIF is playing game here, they know that Southerners will vote for separation, so they are preparing themselves not recognize the outcome of the referendum, we the people of South are ready to defend our country as we been doing it since independent of Sudan.

Mr. Rabie it’s look like you are still sleeping in the board of make Unity attractive. Southern Sudanese and their President all are already crossing the river to the new Nation (South Sudan). Don’t waste your time of telling us that our president is to withdraw his remarks or apologize.
Why don’t you ask Mustafa Ismail, Kamal Obeid etc. to apologize to the Sudanese people at large for their misleading statements?
Ismail when to Kassala State to mobolize the Beja people to be ready for war instead for him to apologize to the Beja (Hadandowa) people of being margalize by his NCP party.
Five years has gone without any change of behavior from the NCP to the SPLM and other political parties to make unity attractive. NCP is controlling everything in GONU regarding decision makings. Expelling NGO’s, Diplomats without the GREEN LIGHT of the SPLM. Is this a party of unity or disunity?
No withdraw of statements. Let President Bashir vote for unity during the refrendum if he is entitle to vote while our President Salva Kiir plus myself vote for seperation.

    BRAVO SALVA KIIR.

Who are ncp to let our president withdraw his beautiful statement, when ncp talk of dead unity did SPLM ask them to withdraw their statement for unity, ncp should be rational in thier talking and know that cpa was signed by both side not you who can interpret cpa as you like. H.E Kiir has right to vote for separation or unity as stipulated in CPA. put it in your minds that cpa did not talk of unity alone, read again and see SEPARATION is there and it is right for any Southern Sudanese to vote for separation or not, not you ncp to decide for us.
Kiir has decided his self determination and he meant it for good and forever.
Not kiir alone other senior members in SPLM party will back him very soon like omer bashir talk to vote for unity in the north and likes.

That is north for dead unity and Southern Sudan for Separation of Southern Sudan in the ( New Sudan including popular consultations)

“The separation of Southern Sudan will re-unite sudan later on and in that time that will be the real unity for Black African”

    Kiir for Change Oyeeeeeeeeeeeeee
    Southern Sudan Oyeeeeeeeeeeeee
    Popular Consultation Oyeeeeeeeee
    Dar Fur Oyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
    Truely African Oyeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I do not know if these people of the NCP really have sound minds. Don’t they know that everybody has his or her own opinion? Kiir’s opinion is not the opinion of the people of South Sudan. We did not fight because of somebody’s influence. We fought because our rights were being taken away by those evil desert dogs in Khartoum. We have already made our decision and it is not going to change even if heavens were to fall down. Kiir will never change it no matter what he says. It is up to Kiir to bow down before NCP or stand up firmly as he has done in the past.

Defintely you don,t have to talk about the fair ,freedom or choice of the people in Sudan while you are intimidated they people of South not to express their will where to go and what to do at the same time however to assure our brothers in the North we are convince that nothing will deter us from achieve our fate by any means War or peacefull methodology.

It is incredible to heard that NCP had asks GOSS president to rewithdraw his statement about the future of his people this is criminal attitude that should be condemn on ground. Kur
