Sudanese presidential adviser arranged meeting between Kiir and Akol: source

October 9, 2010 (JUBA) – The meeting that took place on Saturday between the chairman of Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) Salva Kiir and the leader of the SPLM for Democratic Change (SPLM-DC) Lam Akol was arranged by Sudanese presidential adviser Bona Malwal, a senior SPLM official told Sudan Tribune today.

Malwal who is also the head of South Sudan Democratic Forum (SSDF) was also present at the meeting, the source added.

Both Akol and Malwal are considered close to the National Congress Party (NCP) headed by president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir.

Sudan official news agency (SUNA), which did not mention Malwal’s presence, said that the meeting discussed preparations for the South-South dialogue that is scheduled to take place in Juba next week.

The agency further said that the January 2011 referendum and arrangements underway were also tackled.

The SPLM official who spoke on condition of anonymity declined to give further details on the talks between Kiir and Akol and whether they pave the way for a possible reconciliation between the two sides.

Akol challenged Kiir in April elections for South Sudan’s presidency but managed to gain only 7% of the votes. He later alleged that the SPLM/A rigged the vote and intimidated his supporters operating in the South.

The SPLM has long accused Akol of being an agent of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) in the south and accused him also of commanding an armed militia receiving supplies from the North.

Kiir appears to be striking a conciliatory tone with all his rivals ahead of the referendum. This week he pardoned several SPLA high ranking officers who have defected and clashed with the Southern army.

Southerners, embittered by the conflict and perceived northern exploitation, are widely expected to choose secession. Khartoum wants to keep Africa’s largest country united.

The SPLM points fingers at the NCP saying the latter is fuelling the defections for the purpose of undermining the referendum and making the South appear unstable and unfit to rule itself.

I really and really don’t comprehend why those of Malual Madut, Lam Akol and many more of our elders who are well aware of injustices Arab did to our people kept on clinching to the Arabs regime. Most them were in stalemate Dr. John Garang and given he is gone why are they still sabotaging our match to freedom anyway?

Their recent moves proved they didn’t hate Garang but all Southerners freedom. We all need to condemn these gentlemen and their betrayal acts. I am fed up with them.

The article may be unrelated to what I have written but, I am force to jump into this because I am not happy with their background history. I hate them to death!!!!!

Bona Malual Madut will regret in the future event. Bona Malual is a presidential advisor to Omar Beshir and now he is trying to pretended himself to arrange meeting between Salva Kiir and Lam Akol. Who is him? Bona Malual Madut needs to watch or shot his mouth up. Who knows maybe Bona Malual Madut was sent by the Arabs of Khartoum as an agent to come to the Southern Sudan in order to upload the system in which the Southern Sudanese people wanted to run their government? Bona Malual Madut is a “Bonehead” Doctor followed by his feign friend Doctor Mr. Lam Akol.

Bona Malual Madut had already ruined his heritage from Dinka. He is good to go and blind fooled those who follow him like Lam Akol and others supporters of him. Shame on Bona Malual Madut.
Eat that thirst blood’s money from Arabs and die a lone.

I lack answers to the following questions running through my mind,
    1. If Lam has dropped his idea of supporting Unity which is a bitter pill to the Southerners whom he is one of
    2. How Kiir really accepted to meet this man yet he is not yet very sure of his abandoning of traitorous acts.

I am afraid this is the time the Northerners will use our own Southern Politicians to fail our plans of establishing a different State that we will call our own.

OOPs, I’m really felt betrayed by Kiir, to allow the killer Madut, to arrange the talk between him and Akol. Madut himself has deprived the south from their only and only gift (Dr. Garang) God has given them. Madut was among those who planned the assassination of late Garang, that is why Kiir call off the investigation before the it reach the final conclusion.

both Madut and Akol are now campaigning for unity, how will they come to an agreement with SPLM or Kiir who is openly campaigning for separation?

Shame on u Madut you will face the music you are try to play.
