Rumbek students demand immediate return of southerners to South Sudan

October 16, 2010 (RUMBEK) – Rumbek University students asked the Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) and United Nations to help the return of southerners living in Khartoum and north Sudan before the region votes of independence referendum due for January.
The fate of the southerners living in northern Sudan has become a key concern for many people of South Sudan as the country draw closer to the historical event of the referendum.
Simultaneously to the southern self determination vote the oil rich region of Abyei will vote on whether it wants to join the south or remain in the north.
Majak said that he believed that if there are disagreements between the north and south over the referenda southerners in the north could suffer discrimination.
In 2005 the southern rebels the SPLM signed a peace deal with the government in Khartoum ending 22 years of civil war.
After the death, on 30 July 2005, of the SPLM’s leader John Garang in a helicopter crash some southerners in Khartoum reacted violently. Southerners were then targeted themselves in reprisal attacks.
The Technical and Information Officer of the Students’ Referendum Task Force, James Madol, expressed optimism about the referendum, saying the vote will be peaceful and lead to the birth of a new country.
Madol expressed confidence that there will be development in the south after the referendum, especially to the regions educational institutions, road network, and health facilities.
Madol appealed to the youth of South Sudan to play active rolls in the referendum and vote wisely on January 9, 2011, saying that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.
It is estimated that at least 1.5 million southern Sudanese live in Sudan’s capital Khartoum and other northern towns of Sudan.
Early this week, Sudan Tribune reported, GoSS Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, James Kok Ruea, as saying that, “the Government of Southern Sudan has approved a $30m SDG (around $12.5m) budget to boost the planned repatriation of internally displaced southern Sudanese living in the north”.
South Sudan is widely expected to vote for independence in the poll, which is due to begin 9 January 2011.

Well done Rumbek University students ,It is good ideas for Referendum Task Force group to asked the Government of Southern Sudan to give presures to the world incase of coming war to bring southerners Sudaneses people who are in Khartoum back to Juba,But the one chellageing from South Universities is that students are not recongiesed by Khartoum government becaues the Universities of south Sudan which are meantion southern Sudan are there only by names.we know that no even single university building in South Sudan.It is Just south Sudan are blindfool by Khartuom government.

I’m impress when I see tertiary level students such as those of Rumbek University displaying optimistic views in relation to South Sudan’s future despite gloomy picture often painted by the enemies of the South including traitors and unpatrotic elements from within the South. Mabor Majak is right on South Sudan’s future regardless of what others think. He is also correct on his statement that today’s youth are leaders of tomorrow.

Congratulation students of Rumbek, that is how literate people beat their enemy you are now doing civic education.
Dear brothers of Lakes state am telling you to leave selfish like what happened in Rumbek-East the day before yesterday, i called it selfish because 3000 was been prepared by commissioner to conduct it.
The youth of Rumbek-East were called 4 welcoming of Commissioner in Aduel. evry one were taken to Aduel from There, the meeting was foolishly and poor organised by leaders of the youth.the time schedule failed till 4:34 pm after meeting leaders plus youth of eastern Bhar Naam (Yeak) went to their homes leaving all the youth of western Bhar-naam (Aliamtoch one) in field at 7:45 pm and to make matter worth they wentback to Rumbek by footing and even the didn’t even drunk pure water from handpump.
hence, they were been accused by those of that place even the office manager of the commissioner took the car’s key up & told them if you have power then you push this car to Rumbek. We were vry upset when other blinded people of Aliamtoch one who pretended themse…lves as big people called young boys foolish people and it was their stupidity that let these young boys move from Aduel to Rumbek on foot which sound vry bad and I hve accepted the proverb which say, “to cheat the fools is not a sin” simply becos they were been cheat by Aliamtoch two guys.
and I want to tell you the truth youth of Aliamtoch two want to dominate the whole Rumbek-East which is unblievable.
So I am very sory for that and it is their shame
