First Lady of South Sudan calls for investment in children’s education

October 30, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – Ayen Mayardit, the wife of Salva Kiir Mayardit Sudan’s first vice president and President of the semi autonomous Government of Southern Sudan, called for investment in children’s education on Friday while addressing a one day women forum on referendum and child rights in Munuki, North West of Juba.

“The development of any nation depends entirely on education of its future leaders who are children. Therefore, educating children is the surest way to develop the nation, said Mayardit,” she said while declaring the forum open.

Mayardit, said the development of the human resource is the vision of government of the region and that this can only be achieved when there is meaningful investment in children’s education.

She urged parents to remain dedicated to sending their children to school to help develop the country as well as address the challenges of poverty and hunger in the country.

“It is an open secret that children in rural communities across south Sudan are the most vulnerable. So, every effort aimed at uplifting them from the threats of poverty, and giving them hope, is something all of us should be proud of and these can only be done by investing in their education,” said Mayardit.

Urging South Sudan’s Ministry of Education to give higher attention to orphans and children of other vulnerable groups in the region in scholarship opportunities, she said more technical schools should be opened to children of war victims.

“These technical trainings should include Information and Telecommunication Technology (ICT) to enable them to acquire skills and knowledge currently required in the labor market”, she said.

The first lady urged parents to take advantage of government’s education policy and send their children to school and ensure that they stay to complete at least basic education.

She also appealed to the young people to be disciplined, honest, respectful and patriotic and shun violence and other social vices

Where was she went interim period begin, it she were not marriage because as a first lady of the nation, u should focus on much. I doubt whether that Lady can perform like late Dr. Garang’s wife, Rebecca Nyandeng do thing publicly world wide.

Education is all foundation of key to success

I have never seen South Sudan first lady and the journalist who was in that meeting would have post her photo here. Otherwise the word was put in her mouth, she didn’t attend the meeting leave alone talking about Investment in Education.
Madam Ayen Mayardit (Nyanjok) a sister to Gregory Vasily never went to school.
If facts are told then our mother, Madam Ayen doesn’t know how to write Alphabetical Order leave alone the spelling of her name.

This is just a word of mouth. If Salva Kiir Miyardit didn’t succeed since the time he took office on 8/11/2005 until now, then how come for his wife Ayen to succeed in proclaiming an investment in children’s education?

All these word being spoken all the days and nights are just become monotonous.
