Transport protesters throw stones and close bridge in Khartoum

November 3, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – Protesters managed to close a bridge between Khartoum and Omdurman on Monday to complain at the price and frequency of transport in the Sudanese capital.

Newspapers in Khartoum reported on Tuesday that some passengers were injured after stones were thrown at buses belonging to the Khartoum Transportation Company.

The incident occurred close to Khartoum’s main bus station, Jackson, in west Khartoum near to the Khartoum Stadium and Sudan University.

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) today advised UN staff to avoid the area, fearing further confrontation in the capital.

    Dear Protestors,

By the way you’ve right to claim your wage from the government becaause it’s by your energy that you transport goods or any kind of services.

On the contrary, you should not injure innocent passangers beccause they are like you as they are travelling their ways home. Why don’t you target the perpetuators?

I am afraid that Bashir with his greedy companions will harm you in any way to avoid your voice from being heard.
