The National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) on Wednesday arrested Jaafar Subki Ibrahim, who works for Al-Sahafa daily newspaper. His detention took place after a crackdown on journalists and rights activists from Darfur region.

“Jaafar was interrogated by the security service today morning and they returned to arrest him during the evening from his office,” a source close to the journalist told Sudan Tribune.

Sudanese security forces raided the office of the Human Rights and Democracy Network arresting several Darfur activists and a journalist working with Holland based Radio Dabanga on October 30.

In a statement put out today, the hybrid peacekeeping mission in Darfur, UNAMID, said concerned by the arrest of the journalists and human rights journalists and called “for a swift resolution to the matter”.

On Tuesday, Washington directed its special envoy to Sudan to work for the release of the journalist and rights activists announced U.S. State Department spokesman Philip Crowley.

The swards you use now to kill people will be the one to be used for killing. If you arrest people and kill them you’ll also be first arrested and killed likewise.

You wait and see affter the referendum, will come a devastating news in your sleeping room.

You’ll be under a great strees and depression as you’re doing to innocent civilians & foreigners.

The fact that the Darfurian journalist is arrested by Sudanese security council is the clear declaration of cold war in the country by president Al Bashir on Darfurian but not the crimes committed by the journalist in his duties. And if that security council is working harder hating crimes to be committed in Sudan, why are they keeping quiet on president Bashir whilst he is a criminal himself?

Please NISS the role that you are playing is fully understood by the worldwide communities and it is also well known today that you have a big hand in Darfur conflict with Khartoum government.
Finally, bullets are ready on all of you in the North due to mistreatment that you are doing against the innocent people in the country.
