South Sudanese journalist criticizes counterpart over interview with President Kiir
November 4, 2010 (JUBA) – A veteran journalist and photographer has lashed out at a journalist from Al-Sudani newspaper who alleged there were divisions in the Southern Sudanese leadership following an interview with the First Vice President of Sudan and President of the semi-autonomous Government of Southern Sudan, General Salva Kiir Mayardit, in the national capital, Khartoum.
The article also claimed that Kiir said Machar was responsible for the apparent mood in southern Sudan to vote for secession from the north in a referendum due to take place in January.
South Sudan’s Minister of Information Marial Benjamin Bill denied the allegations:
“There are no divisions among political leaders in South Sudan in general let alone allegations that there is division in the government and people of Southern Sudan. Political leaders, both in and outside the government are united and moving together towards the referendum with one purpose: self-determination”, said Bill.
“I want would like to inform you ladies and gentlemen of the press that the president was quoted out of context on a number of issues following an interview with journalists in Khartoum recently”, he said.
Kiir has since stated that he did not make the statements attribute to him regarding Vice President Machar.
In a message sent to Sudan Tribune, as well as some email groups, veteran photographer, Larco Lomoyat, fiercely criticized the journalist in question:
“You may be aware that certain people and media houses in Khartoum are deliberately spreading lies, cheap propaganda and false information alleging and creating false (…) propaganda trying to confuse our people that our leaders are divided. These (…) media houses and some people in [the] Khartoum have even gone further by manufacturing differences between our President Comrade Salva Kiir and His Vice President Comrade Riek Machar; simply because these media houses and some of these people in Khartoum are stupid enough and desperate who have run out of ideas and strategies to undermine the timely conduct of the referendum.
“Today, I would like to repeat what I wrote two days ago that; few days ago, there was a very (…) female journalist by the name Rofyada Yassen who made a big lie, false allegation and wrote about our President Comrade Salva Kiir Mayardit and our Vice President Comrade Riek Machar Teny on one of their newspapers in Khartoum that Comrade Kiir and Comrade Riek are divided.”

The oil producing region of South Sudan is widely expected to vote for independence in Janaury’s poll. It could be joined by the region of Abyei, which is scheduled to hold a simultaneous referendum to decide if it wants to remain in the north or become part of the south.
Delays caused by political disagreement beween the dominant parties of north and south have put the timley conduct of the Abyei referendum in serious jeapordy, increasing tensions in the country.

They consider the session of South Sudan as a begining of collapse of Arab links with Africa. So I will reiterate it again for people of South Sudan to avoid the Arabs until further notice.
Yesterady Egypt tried to cow people of South Sudan by war that would come from Eritrea, because Eritrean would not agree to be a war in Sudan; it was clear indication that Eritrea would stand on the side of Khartoum and Egypt to fight the Africans in South Sudan because Uganda will stand on the side of South Sudan. I’m sure even your voice recording was manufactured. I think, the best thing South Sudan leaders must do these days is to avoid, north Sudan media and Journalist. These half-baked, ethnic-blinded northern Journalists, understand beyond nothing a bout the ethics of honest Journalism. Therefore; the NCP will continue using them as tools of their cheap propaganda. The fact that Rofyada is only capitalizing on the divisions in an inclusive, covering interview; proves that; she has regime’s agenda; but such things it will not shake the trust of Southern Sudanese masses to rally behind their leaders in order to achieve their destiny.

Whether allegations are true or not! Southern Sudan leaders are all cooperatives regardless of their partners claims so. Machar and other leaders are heroes and they should not give chance for enemies to occupy their heart for money.
