A delegation led by Mohamed Bahr Hamadein, JEM deputy chairman, discussed a position paper delivered to the Joint Chief Mediator Djbril Bassole and the Qatari State minister for foreign affairs dealing with rebels’ position from the peace talks.

“On Sunday’s meeting we discussed extensively in depth the 10-point paper with the mediation and we agreed to meet on Monday November 23 as they need some time to respond to some of our requests,” said Ahmed Hussein Adam, the spokesperson of the rebel group.

“We understand that all the agenda of the discussion cannot be tackled and resolved in a two day meeting. Also some of these issues do not depend on the mediation,” he further said alluding to the Sudanese government.

JEM rebels fought recently with the Sudanese army in several positions. Yesterday, military airplanes bombed inside southern Sudan border while the army accused the ruling SPLM of supporting Darfur rebels.

The rebel movement walked out the negotiating table last May accusing Sudanese government of breaching a cessation of hostilities agreement signed last February. It also said wanting Sudan to allow its leadership to move safely between Darfur and the venue f the talks Doha.

Ahemd Hussein told Sudan Tribune this week they intend to gather rebel factions that boycott the talks before to restart talks with the government. Khartoum said determined to close the door for a peaceful solution in December after signing a peace deal with the rebel Liberation and Justice Movement.
