Sudanese army carry out more attacks against Minnawi in Darfur
December 11, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese army carried out attacks during the last two days against the troops loyal to the former rebel leader who signed Abja peace agreement the UNAMID said today.
These attacks come after the Sudanese army announced on Thursday a first attack on Thursday 9 December on Minni Minnawi fighters saying they were attempting to join southern Sudan.
On December 3, Al-Sawarmi Khaled, Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) spokesperson said that Minnawi troops are now legitimate target and accused them of preparing for war. He added they have moved with weapons and vehicles from the areas assigned to them towards southern Sudan where is based the leader of the group.
In statements released on Saturday the hybrid peacekeeping mission said the Sudanese army attacked for the second day Minnawi troops in Khor Abeche, a village in South Darfur, located 80km northeast of Nyala.
Five civilians were injured during the attack, three among them are in critical condition and will be transferred from UNAMID clinic in the area, the mission said.
The head of the peacekeeping operation said deeply concerned by the attack. He also “demarched the government at the highest level for the attacks on the village to cease”.
In the ministerial reshuffle after April legislative elections, the government relieved the former Minnawi from his position as Senior Presidential Assistant but also sacked him from his position as chairman of Darfur Transitional Authority.
Some 500 civilians fled the village to UNAMID’s nearby camp seeking to be protected by Darfur peacekeepers
“However, the number has now been revised to between 200 to 250 individuals,” UNAMID further said.
Minnawi has consistently accused the Sudanese government of not implementing the 2006 peace agreement particularly the security arrangements protocol.
He was also expecting to be associated to the formation of the NCP dominated state governments but the three governors of North, South and West Darfur refused the participation of the former rebels in their administrations.
Khartoum accused the southern Sudan ruling SPLM of supporting Darfur rebel groups; it also warned Juba of severe consequences if it continues to back insurgents in western Sudan.

This is where the logic fails:
NCP and SPLM are part of the Government of National Unity (GoNU)and
Minnawi’s forces are part of NCP which implies that Minnawi is part of GoNU. Now Minnawi forces want to join SPLM which is also part of GoNu. Is there is anything wrong with this; since they are just moving from one corner of the same house to the other? They are moving from one part of GoNU(NCP) to the other part of it(SPLM). If the NCP is worried about their joining the south, then the NCP is already treating the South as an enemy as seen in recent bombing. South Sudan should utilities all strategies available to deal with the NCP thugs. They sign anything and implement nothing as can now been with the DPA of Minnawi.

The attacks on Minani faction which signed the so call peace with NCP is a signal to other Darfurian factions who are wasting their time trying to sign another NCP tatical peace deal which will not hold any water.
The best thing for you Darfurians is making peace among yourselves and once you people are unity and show your might to these good for nothing NCP will you talk of negotiating any peace deal with them but if you are still divided into small factions as you are, then you are helping NCP get rid of you one by one and sooner or latter there will be no Darfurian factions. Today Minani is the target but tomorrow will be you and so on and so forth until they get rid of you all. You should have learnt from Sourthern struggle.

The SAF with the NCP are not doing a good job ,when Darfur rebels were in Darfur right away from 2003 up to now they have been fighting but nothing have come to the conclusion and fighting will never bring the peace in to Darfur and other part of Sudan ,If Darfur rebels are moving to South Sudan ,then let them move as long as they are the same muslim only need asylum like the LRA rebel of Uganda used to do and the SPLA didnot go for war when the LRA distablised South Sudan and Uganda ,However NCP will never be fighting all the time but nothing will comeout of that fighting because fighting have been there since decade but i hope NCP didnot win the war ,the best way of conflict resolution is when you talk peace on the table and later the result may be in postive position .
