Libya blames north Sudan for likely secession of the south

December 14, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – Libya has admonished north Sudan for failure to render unity attractive to southern Sudanese who are widely expected to vote for the full independence of their region in a vote slated for January 2011.

Abdel Rahman Shalgam, Libya’s permanent representative to the United Nations, said in an interview with the UAE-based Al-Bayan newspaper that north Sudan would stand responsible for south Sudan secession.

The referendum vote on south Sudan secession is the culmination of a 2005 peace deal that ended decades of civil war between the mainly Muslim north and the south where most people follow Christianity or traditional beliefs.

Shalgam specifically blamed politicians in north Sudan and their actions of attempting to impose Shari’ah Islamic law and declare Jihad on southerners for the likely secession of the south.

“Our brothers in Khartoum have a responsibility to bear, this responsibility is represented in actions such as Shari’ah law, the civilization project of [Hassan] Al-Turabi, the fighting and the declaration of Jihad on the south” Shalgam pointed out.

The Libyan diplomat went on to delineate his boss’s view on south Sudan secession.

“Al-Qaddafi sees south Sudan secession as a dangerous event, and even though southerners have suffered grievances, he urges them to search for the solution in creating viable conditions for unity,” he said.

“Libya’s position is that secession is negative, but at the end of the day if southerners want to secede, we can’t be Sudanese more than the Sudanese themselves.”

Shalgam further stressed that the choice of southerners must be accepted.

Last October, the Libyan leader Muammar Al-Gaddafi admitted that south Sudan secession was inevitable, but he warned at the same time that the secession could encourage similar tendencies across the African continent.

When it comes to relationships, sometimes there’s a fine line between what’s ok and what’s not. What crosses the line for one person might be perfectly ok for another. And while sometimes the line is crystal clear, other times it’s a bit blurred. It all comes down to respect. Egyptian must have Respect for southernses and others, and understanding of what crossing the line means to them. And respect for yourself, so you can be clear about where you draw the line and in this case they must stick to one size of their suport of new nation in furture.

Mr, Abdel Rahman Shalgam you got it but your leader Qaddafi had been forget it.

I think you are absolutely right to blame North Sudan led by Omar al Bashir and his Party members of NCP for knowing that, the country was in 22 years civil war, but they weren’t shown any sign of peaceful attractive and lovely to brothers and sisters in Southern part. Now this is the time for Northern Sudan to accepted their mistaken even when the Southern Sudan gain independence still Northern Sudanese need Southern Sudanese more than the Southern Sudanese need them unfortunately, the provocative act by SAF in making boomb shell on Southern Sudanese civilians in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State,Abeyi and Western Bahr el Ghazal State has show prematurely that, the North Sudan behave badly and that can cause bad relationship with Southern Sudan nation. Although it is not all Northern Sudanese should we have to blames them, but the so call NCP who are in charge in Sudan’s government are responsible in backing people to an Old policies that caused 2.5 million lives in the Sudan.

It is too late any way, there is nothing would repair it the unusual experience during six years, but we do appreciate those people like you who speak up the true because there is nothing important than telling the person in point of view that, you are wrong brother and that person was right this is how human beings have to reasoning however, in the culture of Sudanese people particular, the Northern Sudan leaders if you tell them that, you are wrong then, you will get arrest for that and this is why some of the NCP have been consistently supporting negative agendas instead of showing good signs to Southern Sudanese people and others then, they decides to back the Old policies which was the roots cause of why there was a civil war in the first place.

The North Sudan leaders have forgotten that, the Southern Sudanese people are related to all these Black African tribes in Sudan nation by blood same thing others people are related with Southern Sudanese people in this way and every time when they acts against Southern Sudanese people then, it could cause them also more and more problems in others regions in the Sudan otherwise, they have to be nice with Southern Sudanese people but thank for the fact that, you acknowledge what is remain to be seen.

    Guys

The Libyan Diplomat is right to tell truths to the world in this matter. He is a rare Arab especially among the three states of Libya, Egypt, and Sudan. Arabs in those states hardly recognize truth and accept reality.
Thanks to the new face of these countries represented by this statement from a Libyan diplomat. If Arabs had learned this simply trick of differentiating between bad and good, false and truth; the problems of Sudan would had been solved long time ago and the issue of separation would had not been the agenda of this year talks. Therefore, keep this spirit of differentiating between truth and false, bad and good and you will definetely be a person of great value and contribution to the world. I wish all Arabs in Libya, Egypt and Sudan are like this diplomat, they would have been good neighbors and true brothers to live with.

    Regards,Nhomlawda

My dear fellow Southern Sudanese, this is not the right time for us to change word with the Arabs, there is no Arabs which can tell you the true but he knows what he is meaning. The statement of the Libya”s permanent representative to the United Nation are all meaningless nothings value in his statement Because they are the very people normally supporting Khartoum to do whatever they can on the South. It’s clear that his statement has got meaning to his fellow Arabs in Khartoum.we know that these people wanted to joint their hand to block us from achieving our full independence but they will not unless if this land Sudan was not given to us by God.we are not immigrant who claim that they are sudanese.Secession oyeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!1 BY OBOL SAM KING COLLEGE LONDON

Since 1956 i never heard a word from the so called arab country in Africa continent to blame the Khartoum as made open by Libyan diplomat Shalgam.

imposing sheria law and declaring jihad war agianst Southern Sudan made it worse for the arab to realise the mistake at the time when they are convinced that the South Sudan will not again be dislodged. I know libya and egypt are the one who master mined the civil war in sudan since the so called independence of sudan. wait sudan will fragment like hydra if the others Truely African still to be subjected to the same devil ideas.

    Long Live Southern Sudan Country

Very happy to hear the South Sudan Nation Anthem soon!!!!!
The Land of Tall and Black People the whole world is afriad of.

    God Bless South Sudan
