Returnees call upon Lakes state youth to end inter-communal fighting

January 1, 2011 (RUMBEK) – Lakes state returnee, Michael Mangar is calling upon the cattle raiders of Lakes to end their conflict, saying that the returnees are afraid to be victims of the conflicts within communities of Southern Sudan.

Michael Mangar is one of the approximately 200 returnees camping at Comboni Primary School in Rumbek.

Mangar expressed his appreciation to the local community for warmly welcoming them back to “our mother land”.. However, Mangar shared his fears of insecurity caused by inter-communal armed conflicts, calling upon communities in Southern Sudan to live in peace and to let the fighting between different groups, “go with the war.”

Mangar expressed his concerns that he and other returnees had not yet registered to vote.

He expressed regrets that some of the returnees did not register, appealing to the government to see what they can do to have them actively participate in the referendum.

He also appealed to his fellow returnees to exercise patience and perseverance as they settle down in this new context, which is different from what they have been used to in northern Sudan, cautioning them against the desire to returning north prematurely.

Meanwhile, Rumbek Central County Commissioner, Matur Majok Magol, affirmed that security is under control and returnees are being taken care by the Lakes government. He explained that security in his county has improved, revealing that he will deploy three security personnel to each of the 38 referendum polling stations in his county.

Magol noted that “Lakes state and especially Rumbek central county, are now secure. I think since we took over as an elected government; there are no complication in these counties – we have a enough security and I have 38 polling stations – we are now a safe area”.

Lakes has so far received 1,209 returnees out of the 4,000 expected.

Returnees call upon Lakes state youth to end inter-communal fighting
I personnaly do support Micheal Mangar on his remarks calling upon youth of Lakes State to end inter-communal conflict or fighting. That is a good spirit for you Mr. Mangar to have that piece of love in mind. If you are far from Lakes State, you could see that Lakes State is a dumping fit of Waste Materials just because of the rare negative attitude of our youth both in towns and remote areas. Our elders are not far from this conflict because there is no place where youth can exist without their fathers. Communal fighting has put Lakes State community to the lowest primitive class in South Sudan and this must be fought with seriously. Lakes State has lost recognition in South Sudan and in Africa. Lakes State community has lost the positive qualities of being friendly as they do to others before the war and after the war, they lost the past hostpitality, rich cultures, respect for human rights and their ability to stand firm in every circumstances.

There is need to revive those eroded cultures and positive attitude so that Lakes State Community become a community of peace loving people in the year 2011 and in the New Country South Sudan. Let all these filthy natures and behavours be put to an end and let the north be the dump pit for these waste materials. Peace be with You.

Lastly, I appreciate the returnees on one thing. They have remain with some inheritage cultures and however i oppose one thing like use of cosmetics that make most of our ladies pink and pale and the did not correct. Let them not come and change the true black beauty of our ladies.Lakes State has no segeration like the North.
