Sudanese state minister for foreign affairs receives British envoy

KHARTOUM, May 17, 2004 (SUNA) — The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Al-Tigani Salih Fedail, received Monday the British Envoy for Peace in Sudan, Mr. Alan Goulty, in the presence of the British ambassador to Sudan, and reviewed the efforts being exerted by the parties to the negotiations in Naivasha, Kenya, to reach durable peace in the country.

Dr. Fedail briefed Mr. Goulty on the government’s endeavors to realize security and stability in Darfur.

Mr. Goulty welcomed the government’s keenness to find comprehensive settlement to the problems of Darfur.

Mr. Goulty briefed Dr. Fedail on the British concern over the humanitarian situation in Dafrur and its donation of about 30 million dollars as a relief aid to Darfur.

It is to be recalled that the British envoy for peace in Sudan, Mr. Alan Goulty, is currently visiting Sudan on an official mission and would meet a number of government’s officials.
