Sudan arrests opposition leader Hassan Al-Turabi

January 18, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese Islamist opposition leader, Hassan Al-Turabi, has been taken into custody by Sudan’s security members along with a handful of mid-rank members of his Popular Congress Party (PCP), Sudan Tribune has learned.

Al-Turabi-jpg.jpgMembers of Sudan state security arrived late on Monday at Al-Turabi’s house in Al-Manshia area in Khartoum and ordered him to leave with them immediately. A number of Al-Turabi’s close aides were also arrested.

Sudan Media Center (SMC), which is closely linked to the country’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) said that prisoners captured from the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in West Darfur admitted their links and receiving support from Turabi’s party to carry out military campaigns in the restive region.

Al-Turabi was once the main ideologue and close ally of president Al-Bashir’s regime until he was ousted in a bitter power struggle with his fellow Islamists. Since his ousting in 1999, Al-Turabi has been active in opposition to Al-Bashir’s ruling National Congress Party from which he split to form the PCP.

On Monday, Al-Turabi gave an interview to AFP and warned that street protests similar to the ones that occurred in Tunisia could happen in Sudan if president Al-Bashir failed to share power.

The Sudanese government has long accused Al-Turabi of having strong ties with the Darfur rebel group Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) which recently suffered the capturing of some of its senior members by the Sudanese government in western Darfur.

What is wrong with his arrest? Al-Turabi is a mess in Sudan’s politics. He is our problem, and anything bad the country faces so far is upon his drawback mistaken ideals.
However, the North will never live in peace and hermony again because many factions are likely to emerge soon. South-North war has protected their togetherness for so long, and it is about time to see themselves oppositely.
The ending of one thing is a beginning of another thing.
Southern war is seemed to be over, and what next is a story of its own to be told in the north.
The Al Ba and Al Tur are playing politics. Come on Arabs, you play the game well without tears in the end.

The evidence of Northern Sudan crisis has begun now.

Dr.Hassan al Turabi, the creature of NIF have been arrested in many times by the Bashir regime government, a government that dose not knowing that, these an Old elderly politician in the world should be treated fairly and respectful way unfortunately, that is not the case now in Northern Sudan. I can tell that, Turabi the most educator man in the Sudan, I think he had realized a lots of his mistaken he has done when he was supporting a Military dictatorship man which cause million innocents people to dies in the Sudan, because of his introduction of National Islamic Front for Shariah Law in Sudan and the government he was supporting apparently turned to abuse him badly, this is what we call it what goes around may come around you. Dr. Hassan al Turabi you better to leave North Sudan and go some where if I was one of your relative I would have tell you to do so because the more they arresting you over and over like that, the more uncertainty to your life could happen.

I am very glad that, my people, the Southern Sudanese and others marginalize regions within Sudan will finally make a decision to form the New Sudan nation and set the constitutional that, will not going to recognizing overthrowing agenda partly, because the dictatorship system of couping did make the nation unstabilizing for years and this is why some countries rules by such a system have less development for instance the Sudan. Let the North Sudan remain with the coupe system and the New Sudan will take different Road for government system.

It is up to Northern Sudanese people to decide what they want to do with an Old elderly politicians like Dr, Hassan al Turabi which I think they must respect those an Old people to let them say what they want to says, because they have same voices to speak up as well as those misleading people claim. I think the North Sudan will have no rosy future in the years to come according to my observation, because every tiny politicians now have realizing after Southern Sudanese voting that, they were doing bad things to none Arab people in the Sudan and they are trying to change the constitutional which is I think it is too late and most of the times in years to come, the Northern Sudan will face blames for mistreating none Arab in Sudan which mean the person who was responsible for million dies and genocide could face a strong punishment. The question is that, where can Omar Hassan Ahmed al Bashir hiding himself in the world.? To make guess please think about Ethiopia. The source say, the family of Omar al Bashir have already bought land and beautiful houses in Ethiopia it sound familiar now, something that, the NCP can not belief it, but we will see where the whole NCP will be hiding themselves in this world.

The blood of the innocent people from the South who had been killed during the struggle erra with the North will never be forgotten, and the curse will always precipitate itself within the North. The so called sick minded Hassen Al-turabi was the main killer disease to the South during our movement,so if his own muslim brothers arrested him or buried him alive,it’s accordance to their regime.Turabi used to be the instigator to this current government the NCP.He knows what’s going on with his own life, the fact is Dr.Turabi has gone way too far from his literature,so whether if they restrained him or cut his balls off can be eventually announced world wide.so don’t worry about what’s going on with that punky ass old man.
