North and South Sudan seek accord on oil pipelines and Abyei

February 10, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – The National Congress Party (NCP) and Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) are planning a new push towards resolving key post-referendum issues namely the transport of oil produced in the landlocked South and dispute over border region of Abyei.

A new round of talks on economic issues will focus on arrangements related to the ownership of pipelines that transport oil from the South to Port Sudan and loaded to tankers.

The South Sudan VP Riek Machar said in press statements that existing contracts with oil companies will remain untouched but affirmed the right of the independent South to sign new contracts with other companies.

Most of Sudan’s proven daily output of 500,000 oil barrel is extracted from oilfields in the south whereas the pipelines infrastructure and refineries are based in the north. Both sides need to maintain cooperation on oil after secession to sustain their economies which depend greatly on oil revenues.

On Abyei, the joint political committee of the NCP-SPLM agreed to visit the oil-rich region for talks with leaders there.

Following that, president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir and South Sudan leader Salva Kiir will hold an expanded meeting with the leaders of the Arab Misseriya and Dinka Ngok who inhabit Abyei.

Abyei was due to hold a referendum last month to decide whether it will become part North Sudan or join an independent south Sudan but it was suspended after a disagreement persisted on who is eligible to take part in the plebiscite.

North and South Sudan seek the agreement on oil pipeline,North don’t have much right on the ownership of oil, the oil is in the South, the pipeline ownership that transport oil from the South to port Sudan shuold be under the ownership of the South Government or else the South need to reform the system and renew the contract with companies.

president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir and South Sudan leader Salva Kiir will hold an expanded meeting with the leaders of the Arab Misseriya and Dinka Ngok who inhabit Abyei. Only the leaders of the Arab Misseriya who actually live in Abyei, are allowed to vote in Abyei referendum. This is what the CPA says. Those Misseriya of Muglad or Khartoum should not be able to speak.

The Misseriya have broken all the agreements on Abyei. Until the Misseriya agree the referendum, remove the roadblocks and pay the blood money compensation they should not be allowed to move there cows to the Kiir.

Dear: Deng Alor (Ya Abyei resident & Deng Majoks’ sell outs)

I do’t care about you & Kiir fellow kinsmen appointed Ambassadors, at this juncture. Jallaba can go a head and dismissed them all now. Deng Alor I know you very well since your days in Addis Ababa when you were playing a double game in the late eighties and early nineties.

I don’t like being in a position to be a foreign minister once our independent is declared in July.

That position should now Go to people like Richard K Mulla who’s well experienced in Foreign policy.

NO! NO! Mr. Vice President, All the contracts with the oil companies have to be reviewed. All the contracts they sign was with the North. All that has to be review immediately. They are operating for their own benefits. How come the oil companies owns 40% of the oil out put while the whole south owns only 10% percent? we also wants the 2% of the oil output to be given to the locals and this has to be implemented also.

We have huge environmental violations committed by the oil companies. Nobody has paid attention to such vices. Its time to review the contracts.

We have to review these contracts!

The Abyei land is belong to the people of Abyei. There is no what so ever call comprehensive if any leader attempted to do that compregensiving with North Sudan then, it will result as impeachment from his Officie. The people of Southern Sudanese must looks to what their leaders are trying to do for Abyei District because is completely Dinka of Bahr al Ghazal and the Abeyi is the land of Southern Sudan without any question.

I would like to remind all Southerners Sudanese that, you must observing all these leaders in GOSS if found one leader is having fearful signs, because of Abyei issue then, that leader whether he is Mr, Salva Kiir Manyardit nor Dr. Riak Machar Teny or James Wani Iagg, Koul Manyang Juuk, Daniel Awett Akout,Deng Alor Koul, Pagan Amum and all governors of ten States if anyone from GOSS attempt to co-operate with North Sudan must be told to step down immediately, because we can afford the fearful leader to leade Southern Sudanese when it come to Abyei issue and the borders. The leader who seem to be fearful on war about Abyei problem must not leade Southern Sudanese people period.

Southerners Sudanese people might have to tell their leaders that, there is no politics on the Abyei issue, because this is something most people known for awhile that, Abyei District was been transfered to Central Sudan region by Former president Mr, Mohmmed Ja’afar al Numayri and Misseriya was not there at that time. Who doesn’t know that, Misseriya tribe is a movable tribe.?

If they can sincerely asking Abyei people for grazing and water for their animals then, it is fine but the unprofound claiming they rights in Abyei land is unacceptable and I think people should know that, Southern Sudanese have fought for two decades just because of such unprofound from North Sudan and the isssue of Abyei in my view will not take years to reach Khartoum by all mean and I just do not want the leader who felt fear on the Abyei issue and others things as the New nation have to maintaining what belong to Southern Sudan part. It doesn’t matter whether the oil belong to Southern Sudan, the people of Southern Sudan have been suffering for so long so much while, North Sudan were been misleading and looting million and billion dollars for all resources that, located in the Southern Sudan.
