W. Equatoria and Lakes states to investigate ethnic clashes
February 18, 2011 (YAMBIO) — The governor of Lakes state Chol Tong and the governor of Western Equatoria state Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro has resolved to form an investigation committee to scrutinize the incidents that took place in Mvolo last week.
The ethnic clashes in Mvolo county of Western Equatoria and Wulu county of Lakes state, which began on nine February, are believed to have killed fifteen people.
A neutral committee, not including the communities of the two conflicting counties, will meet in Mvolo on Wednesday 23rd Feb 2011 to start the investigation on the incident.
The committee will comprise of the Chairman, from WES Legal administration unit, Secretary from Lakes, Police, Military intelligence member from WES, National security member from Lakes state, and Public security from WES.
The two governors held a meeting in Mvolo County on Friday 18th Feb 2011 on how to find amicable solutions between the communities of Mvolo and Lakes State Yirol West communities.
Briefing the communities of Mvolo the governor of Lakes State Chol Tong Mayai said they “are here to tell the communities of Mvolo that the clashes should stop, anybody involved will be apprehended and face the law.”
Chol pointed that “soon they (two states) will come to Mvolo to make peace,” citing that he “will bring chiefs from Rumbek and Yirol and Mvolo Chiefs so that they can agree with those chiefs for the cattle that come Mvolo”. He urged the chiefs to go ahead to arrange by themselves.
He called upon the communities of Mvolo to stay well, if there people who want to influence conflict they should inform the government.
He urged the communities to coexist together in peace because of the South Sudan’s nation has emerged.
“I will go and tell the people of Rumbek that Mvolo people that more no problem, what happened has already happened we don’t want anybody to die again” he added .
Meanwhile the Governor of WES Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro at their meeting in Mvolo is to find amicable solution to the incident that took place last week in the county.
”It is bad, we don’t want it to happen again war is over since, we don’t want any war amongst us, secondly all, sons of Rumbek West and Yirol who are here must be protected, we don’t want segregation they should not leave the county, this will bring confusion between us they are our people – if we have problem we shall sit together and settle” Bakosoro appealed.
Bakosoro urged the people of Mvolo to have peace between the people of Yirol West and Mvolo and Rumbek West people cautioning that, “if there are politicians here who want to enter and divide civilians to stop it.”
”The love between us and Lakes should be stronger than before if there was a problem in the past, forget it, let us stay as people of one state in our new nation” added the Governor.
The delegation from WES includes Commissioner of police WES, Commander of SPLA WES, Political advisor WES, National Security, and other members from UNMIS.
According to reports, over 15 people lost their lives and about 11 wounded, 36 cows killed and about 60 wounded and over 306 herds of cattle looted.
Fight erupted in Mvolo County of Western Equatoria State on the 9th Feb 2011 which left 14 people dead and many more displaced between the communities of Yirol West of Lakes State and communities of Mvolo County of Western Equatoria State.

Culprits must be brought to face justice,and Mvolo youth must compansate 15 people killed from Yirol, other wise more than that will happen soon.

I do not see clearly in the second pragraph of the article the role of Wullu County mentioned in the report of the conflict that erupted between Mvolo County and Yirol West County. The article has been mentioning Wullu County with Mvolo County in conflict which one failed to understand their participation in conflict at the end of the report.
Again, when community ran away with huge herds of cattle looted, it should not be called displacement.
The best practical part of this article is that the two Governors are finding amicable means to stop this recurrent conflicts.
I will appreciate if the committee for investigation do their best to bring the culprits into book. If they are people of Yirol West County are the Problems let them be given fine and be banned to entered into Western Equatoria with their herds and the same applied to people of Rumbek. If the problem is found to be from Mvolo community let them be dealt with without prejudice. We need peace,stability and peaceful coexistence with our neighbours.
Wullu County has no problem with people of Mvolo. If am not wrong i heard of the problem was at a certian village during the registration period for the referendum and it ended from there.
Another point i noted here is that there is no Rumbek West in Lakes State. Please reporters, quote things or words correctly. Do not confuse the readers for the seek of your language expression.

Well-done for you the two governors of W.Equatoria,and L.State for the brave step you have taken about reconciliation between our communities.
Please make it clear to these two communities that they all belongs the new nation the republic of Southern Sudan.
Make life easy to a normal person,we talk about marginalization,while most of our people dosent have clean water,enough food,health facilities:All these makes people to strugle for life by themselves through killing each-other.
For a group of people to arrange and attack anyone on the road and loot what he have:This is the result of hunger,porverty,iddleness,and lack of job.
So to clear this out,the government need to do all the best by creating more projects in the rural ereas in other to keep people buzy.
