Donors’ conference on W. Sudan to be held in Geneva next month
KHARTOUM, May 22, 2004 (SUNA) — An international donors’ conference on the humanitarian situation in Darfur states and flow of humanitarian aid to the affected areas in Darfur is due to be held in Geneva in early next June.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Najib Al-Khair Abul-Wahab, said in press statement Saturday that Sudan government will take part in the conference, which would reflect the humanitarian conditions in Darfur and adopt measures on the flow of humanitarian aid, on the light of UN reports on the humanitarian situation in Darfur.
He said that the conference would issue an action plan for enhancement of the humanitarian aid situation in Darfur.
The minister referred to endeavours of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen the partnership with the United Nations and the non-governmental organizations, stressing that transparency is required in the dealing with international community’s organizations.
