SPLM: Now is the time for retaliation!

“ Good actions give strength to ourselves and inspire good actions in others,” Plato, the Greek great philosopher.

By Luk Kuth Dak

Marchg 21, 2011 — It’ unfortunate, truly is, that even after more then two decades of warfare and marathon negotiations with the so-called National Congress Party (NCP), the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement (SPLM) hasn’t really mustered the art of the NCP game plan, its mentality and the way of thinking.

In all truth, today, the party of the late Dr. John Garang de Mabior, that rightfully became the undisputed liberator of the people of South Sudan, is now in a very serious danger of losing the reputation that organization has built over the years, with the unexplained dire security “mess” underway in very many parts of the heartland of our nation, and with the renegade George Athor Deng increasingly becoming more and more comfortable in attacking the SPLM strongholds.

Subsequently, when the renegade, George Athor first defected, we were told by some SPLM leaders- names withheld- for now, that the whole thing was a hoax. “Athor has only a couple of hundreds of followers with him, and it’s only a matter of time before he was brought to justice, for the crime he committed against innocent civilians as well the SPLA soldiers, they said.”

Well, now what? Almost a year later? Today, George Athor Deng has only gotten stronger and certainly more aggressive by the day, and it seems he isn’t even fearful in facing it off with the mighty well-armed SPLA.

The question now becomes: Was the SPLM transparent with the people of South Sudan when it said what it said in the above- mentioned statement? And what excuses does it have for Athor’s unanswered aggression and continued cold-blooded murders of innocent children and women in Upper Nile, Jongolei and Unity states?

WE NEED SOME HONEST ANSWERS.

Underneath it all, the people of South Sudan are in a state of shock, that after battling the “ Jallaba” for over two decades, it’s apparent that the SPLM still has some leaning to do in order to better understand the obvious – which is the fact of the matter that the one and the only language the NCP/ NIF truly understand, is literally, the confrontational language, which they have mustered to the letter.

But, armed with the whole truth over the involvement and the continuation of the NCP and its Southern culprits in smearing our nation, one would think that this must be the time to put an end to the so-called “sugarcoating” and political correctness. Now, it isn’t only necessary, but also legitimate to confront this aggression by any means possible, in order to protect the interests of the people of South Sudan.

However, the title of this article doesn’t necessarily mean calling for a war, as much as it’s to persuade the SPLM to send a clear message to the North. That message should be pure and simple. If you (the North) continue to undermine our security, we, too, will undermine yours. Also, the SPLM should make it very clear to the NCP that it will officially and openly rallies its support and resources behind our comrades in Dafur, Angassana Hills, East and the Blue Nile, respectively.

The second phase should be for the SPLM to back its words with actions, and not just stick to the same old rhetoric of giving futile threats, but only to soften up a few days later.

Quite frankly, if the SPLM shows the NCP its true color, and what it’s inclined of, I can really and truly guarantee you that anything and everything will be running very smoothly, and for a host of good reasons: One of which, is the fact that the last thing the NCP “ Pit Bulls” bullies would ever wanted to do, is going into a warfare in all directions, which will ultimately lead to unprecedented defeat, and subsequently, the destruction of what they have looted from the people of Sudan ( both in the South and the North), for the last couple of decades and counting.

And by the same token, they won’t dare seeing some of their leaders – including al Basher, being fallen at the hands of the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Judge Luis Moreno Ocampo.

There’s a saying in America that goes: “ If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.”

That being said, if the current SPLA commanders aren’t able to eliminate the renegade George Athor Deng, and bring about the much needed security and stability to the territory, then, may be someone else should pick up the baton.

Undoubtedly, the NCP and the NIF would welcome a government run by its allies in South Sudan, so that the life line (oil revenue) continues to pure in without any discrepancies. But make no mistake about, the people of South Sudan will not be fooled again this time around.

SPLM: Now is the time for retaliation!
    Dear Luk,

It is normal for liberation movements to break, disintegrate, and fight each other after achieving their goals. Every liberation movement in this planet went through this stage of precariousness.

SPLM is not that far, or exempt from those liberation movements. It’s just matter of time before South Sudan Republic will settle down politically, economically, and socially.

This process is going to get worse before getting better. We are going to see more rebellions and mutinies before S.Sudan get it true independence from illiteracy, selfishness, greed, and most importantly tribalism. Thanks.

Exactmore, you are brother. you know Mr.Luk, some people with idiotic and shortsighted individuals are beginning to defining insecurity in Greater Upper Nile very losely.they called it an Upper Nilian things. they say insecurity is out of date in greater upper nile. the people with short sighted vision are trying to create build borders saying every region in south sudan has to provide security for it own citizens,or civil populations. i asked them who is to provide that security, is the security going to be provided by civillians to their vulnerable civil populations, or is the army going to bring that about. nobody answer my question. i asked them again to scritinize what they have suggested whether it has similarities with the disease that is killing people in Somalia, they kept silence. some of them during the discussion say people of greater upper nile have to be left to fight themselves until they come to their senses when hell befriended them. to me, that fighting it is not an option, nor it has anything to do with people of greater upper Nile. to my understanding, it was engineered and fueled by blood sucker in Juba, the problem was cooked up by the so called SPLM political Bureau. i’m still a committed member of SPLM party, but im fearing the road SPLM is stirring the car right now.the SPLM will likely fit in the shoes of NCP if it doesn’t consult with the masses of south sudanese. motivated, i don’t want to explain it in detail as we all know it. it is not like cattle raiding. it is a national crisis. these are the kind of people President Obama termed as those who like to rule in crisis.i will end with a quot from our good book of wisdom, the BIBLE!!!,even after the lord brought children of ISRALE out from the bondages in Egypt, He distroyed non believers, meaning that, even if SPLM brought peace to SOUTH SUDAN, it shall be abandoned and punish when it misbehave. no matter how beautiful the she goat is, the own can still sell it away.

    Dak,

You are talking like you are the United State of America!

Take it easy man! Megalomania is an intractable disese!

You say you are not calling for war while you are asking to follow threats with actions. What is that?… throwing stones!

Darfur rebells are already acting from the South, and this was admitted by the President of the GOSS.Minni Arkawi is openly is in the south, nobody denied or can deny this. The promise of Salva Kiir was not respected. All the western supporters of the SPLA had warned them from this action If you read the Lecture of the responsible man of the African desk in the ministry of foregin affairs of the USA at Chetham house London, he clearly he said we have being advicing them against what they are doing in Darfur!

What you have being told about the NCP support of the rebells in the south is the same as what you have being told about the size of Ator’s follwers and that they will “cruched” within days.If this was not true then the first was not true as well! What Pagan said in his press confrence and presidented as documents was rediculous and he couldn’t sell that to the international community. They are not that stupid! This why he was ordered to go back to the negotiating table , which he did with tail between his legs. The united nation is there and they are monitering the situation and they know what is happening!!Ther is the joint militalitary commitee and other CPA mechanism to settle any dispute , yet you are depend upon Pagan futile propoganda!

Your assumption that the jallaba understand only the language of confrontation is not true. This is a megalomenia mentality.Obviously what you have achieved through negotiation you would have never achieve through war.Fortunately the south will find it equally difficult to stage any war as it would threaten the oil industry upon which the new state of south sudan will totally depend.

The north does not want any confrontation or any war.We want to live in peace within our borders and you live in peace within your borders.Having said that , we are quite capable of defending ourselves and interest.

It would be far wise and prudent if your suggested message to the north is reversed, in both the adress and content! However , your same message in the reversed form and adress have already been dispatched from the so called international community!

Darfur rebells are already in the south. The ingesina and Kordufan people allready feel that they have been betrayed by the SPLA. You need to look for another threat.

The south is already bleeding and our fear that would be escaleted and have to expect a further influx of refugees!
