Egypt Air temporarily suspends its flights to Juba
April 2, 2011 (KHARTOUM) — The state owned airline company of Egypt Air announced today that it has decided to temporarily suspend its flights to South Sudan capital of Juba saying it has recently became unprofitable.
Hussein Massoud president of Egypt Air told state owned Al-Ahram newspaper that the number of passengers kept diminishing to the point where in some instances only twenty seats were filled on a given flight. The report said that the airline sent a memo to the Egyptian Prime Minister in this regard for possible government aid to support the Cairo-Juba flights.
Egypt Air launched the route in mid-2010 with two flights a week to Juba as part of a strategy to expand in Africa.
Parmena Makuet Mangar, who heads the Government of South Sudan liaison office in Egypt, told Al-Ahram from Juba that this move generated shock in the South particularly in light of recent visit by the Egyptian Prime minister Essam Sharaf.
South Sudan will officially become an independent state next July after its citizens made that choice in the referendum held last January.

They should not be suspends for temporarily but for ever because if Egypt could remember what had happened last year to some of south-Sudanese travellers whose their flight zone routed via Cairo. They were being tortures by the Egyptian security with all their passport taken away from them detained them not until late hours of 7:00pm that no flight to Juba except Khartoum.as a result many of them from USA,UK to spent their night in an expensive hotel in Cairo. And so that is the effect which make their flight diminising a lot of empty seats because most of the south-Sudanese coming from USA,Uk,AUSTRALIA and the rest of the world changed their route to East Africa because of their evil deed. And so it’s come to the point of the true gospel which say those who used to do evil will learn to do good.Am sorry Egyptian you think that you are wise but the consequence turn you stupidity and for sure no any south sudanese will make any mistake to used Egypt flight whether to be from Juba to Cairo or Cairo to Juba because the route has already changed no going back but instead we shall begin torturing you in Juba.

We dont want egyptians airline to operate in the south.
They dont deserve to gain anything from the south sinc they are among the southerns enemies.
I remmber last year while southern sudanese were traveling back home through egyptians airport, egyptian used offensive words as such as slaves..etc.
I suggest south sudan should improve their air services so that we wont need anyone’s help.I Love Air france.
Merci béauçoup.

Trading with Arabs is a horrific one. Let them go we no longer needs them. We have so many countries we will be trading with. There is no tribalism in commercial activities. Please don’t convince them to come back because they are interesting in trading with their fellow Arabs.
