Rebellion or no rebellion, the South is moving on!

By Isaiah Abraham

April 5, 2011 — No one had expected the likes of Gen. George Athor Deng and Major David Yauyau to hold up arms against the government of the people of Southern Sudan, the very government they have been struggling to establish- which in fact they did. But the past is the past; we have these men in arms against the state with treason charges hanging over their heads. They have made it abundantly clear that they are there to destabilize the new nation, unless they are allowed to make their way. They wanted the government to tumble or fall. Fortunately however they will have to wait and wait longer for that happen.

The government is Juba was dully an elected government, and nothing could go between it and 2015 unless through unconstitutional short cut means known in another language as coup de tat. Apologists must tell us something new, not the democracy we have been through. This is a reality we must leave it or take it, and hereby advice on the onset our brothers that claim to be fighting for quick change to think again. Southerners aren’t fool to believe losers because they think this person is a scientist or belong to our clans or tribes. You lose, you loses and you have before you another chance to do your political home work in the future so to win the confidence of your people. The Home and Away Hotel can’t either bring you back the seat you lost democratically last year.

The option to taking arms to intimidate the state is far fetch a day dream; the South will triumph over its enemies whether these enemies come in the form of brothers or political losers. To kill your own people and your own people army is unforgivable, and history will judge our brothers in Upper Nile harshly. But truly, there could be deaths and security threats in Upper Nile against the state but that is just a little storm by little personalities. The region (Upper Nile) is firmly with the government.
Our people must not overestimate the danger pose by rebellion in Upper Nile States. Its normal in the process of the larger crisis, and time will prove that nothing actually was there in the first place. What is there is skirmishes (hit and run), too much hot air, call it propaganda on the side of rebels against the Southern Government with a hope that some perennial dissident groups within the SPLM will leave the party and join them. But time has changed for one section of our society or any tribe to buy any lie anymore. People know that what is happening in Upper Nile is pure malice by some failures to make a point.

So, there is no need for the public to panic from Greater Upper Nile troubled and sick region that has ever been rebelling. Gen. George can’t win his home county let alone the entire Upper Nile Region. He has however a few from his Korfulus base, Khartoum of course as well as the white army from Lou Nuer that were left out during army integration processes. To my surprise everyone in Upper Nile wants to be general, that is why villagers left their cattle camps to join the army, what a joke! But above all these (George and the group) have no moral cause to steer up a change. They lost election squarely and this should have shame them if they really know the values of democracy.

The point we are making therefore is that the South can’t be taken for a ride and expect things to go on like that. Time to crack a whip is coming. We have just been out of the war and nothing could distract the people of Southern Sudan from noble objectives of putting pieces of their lives together. We want to rebuild this land (put up infrastructures), we want to put food into our stores, we want to let our children come back home for education, we want our health facilities establish to stop the flow of our money to India and Jordan. The list of what to do is long. Our people don’t have time to fight one another because someone wants to become a divisional commander or a governor.

But someone proposes that there could be an internal struggle for power within the SPLM party, a situation in which George and the company are mere king’s makers. He cited an argument by George himself over Miraya Fm local radio that ‘Mr. Kiir is blind’. I end up though not taking him serious because am pretty sure that the SPLM party is very much united, though no one could still rule out the fact some are still nursing the thinking that someone somewhere isn’t doing what he supposes to do but relies to others to wheel him for their personal purposes. There is no power struggle within the SPLM party, I repeat. Take it from this little author.

As security situation becoming daily talk in our bars and public places, our people should rest assure that things are in safe hands of our men in uniform in Bilfam. They know what they are doing and the cat will be let loose once we are out of the wood in July. Opposition groups and their allies in the bush know this fact, and want to destabilize the region before July. They are bound to fail. Our army knows the trees around and the terrains where spoilers could hide, and they would be found out! The South is moving ahead with its agenda despite threats, sabotage, and often empty threats by enemies of the South that are mostly Khartoum backed groups. They had wanted the South to fail, and still wish it fails; but thanks to Kiir-Machar wise leadership, they are there for a rude shock for their lives. The South will move on! Khartoum, what do you want?

Look, the SPLM party and that of the SPLA was tried before by many, and its process has never been reversed. They are called people army because of the composition and formation from day one. They are politicians in uniform and ever there to frustrate individuals who might be interested in selfish schemes against that of the people of Southern Sudan. Our army isn’t the best yes, and have public relation problems and lacks training, but they are the best fighters when it comes to defense. No group has ever come top of the SPLA even if anyone kills an SPLA company. The ultimate end of any similar scenario is the rebellious personalities coming back with heavy ranks and heart begging, and nothing more.

I believe we have a future that was written by the blood of our martyrs and nothing will change it whether someone hires a foe or hide in his tribe. Our people are tired of internal dirty games of plotting to overthrow the people government. Time for theories has long gone and its upon us to adapt to new dawn of majority rule through a ballot box. Military mean is outdated to resolve differences, if they are real issues. Gen. Athor and the likes are insulting our people conscience when they refuse to accept the fact that they are fighting a losing war from unjustifiable causes.

My piece of advice to our army spokesperson, my respected comrade, Col. Philip Aguer Panyang: please don’t go to the media about anything related to the army or security; some of these so-called reports might not actually be real security issues but sheer imaginary pictures of what the situation would look like. In our case we are firmly on the ground, and here to stay. The secret of any official press releaser is to deny, deny and deny. Long live the new land!

    Isaiah Abraham.

I think your article is worth and true that, I have come to support your sense. You supposed to mentions more people not only George Athor Deng Dut and David Yauyau are reblling Southern Sudan government, but also people like Peter Gatdet Yaka,Abdul Bagi Ayii and Oliny from Shullik tribe. Thy don’t know exactly what they are fighting for and to prove my point here. The militiamen leader Mr. David Yauyau in Jonglei State of Pibor was asking construction workers to leave Road construction not to mention also they killed truck driver meanwhile, the real goal for Southern Sudan government was to make developemt project happen a cross all Southern Sudan States. It is stunning me to see that, the guy is from Murel tribe and he is against construction at his home of Pibor county, this is shown the benefit of doubt that, these people are fighting for no reason otherwise, they should have never creating another rebellion if it was just a matter of losing position for governorship and commisioners in both Unity State and Jonglei State.

I blame the Sudan government for making brainwashing to such unexperience leadership to claim they wanted to lead with so many lacking at his own yard. Abraham, there must be program need to be taught in Southern Sudan’s school. I know that, it is too early to tell or blame education for not teaching Students as for themm to become a social people and people who can understand what is the cause and effect as well as knowing the law and Public relationship and most importantly knowing how to solve your problems peaceful manner is the only good way. Social people can maintaining all difficulties they have and also they always having a good patience whatever, the type of problems it maybe. Cause and effect should be something they have to know it before they want to created rebellion as you mention, there is nothing could just be done quciken and for these Southern Sudan rebels could take them another 21 years just like the SPLA does with Sudan government and the real question is who want to fight for another 21 years.?

Public relationship, Southern Sudanese leaders and its Students at schools must be taught now on how the Public services are different from yours. For example, the governorship and commissioners which Athor Dut, David Yayasu and Gai of Unity State claims are Public services and there is no reason to assum you were the one to take that position, because anyone within State can take it.

The rebels of Southern Sudan were created by the enemies of peace and I belief strongly that, it was not actually their choice to take arms against young nation, but they were been told by those people who don’t want Southern Sudanese to success or there are a certain people in Sudan they don’t want none of them to have same rights and same justice for all and same budgeting for development in the Sudan country. I am absolutely agree with you Abrham at the last of your article, media are some time worsen for war because they try to fuel things from good to bad shape and I wish the SPLA should avoiding letting them to report something if the SPLA Cdrs not agree to air it.

    Dear Abraham,

I agree with you this time my dear brother. People out there are still not knowing that the Goss has been the existing government since the establishment of CPA but this time,we are going to endure the dirty tactics that the enemy of peace attempt to plant in ROSS.

The enemy of peace still not knowing that in the time to come, the people of South Sudan will not be busy begging the enemies in order to cause disturbance in the South because of their self-interest.

I am sure that the little encouragement that SPLM/A brought through its long struggles without surrendering under the suppression of Khartoum help us understand the value of our identity.

We are South Sudanese or African in general and it would be so sad to be employed by Jallaba to cause problem on their behalves, is that not shame on us?

We have been fighting each other for long and these fight has benefits our people but the same Jallaba.

Yes, I would be very happy when our people understand that the small gifts that they always received from our enemy is not that important then our land.

I am 100% splm/A and i feel a shame when our weak heart when to Khartoum and keep begging for things that will not help them in the long-run.

We need all sort of development in the South no matter what the power greediness thing in the South Sudan.

SPLM/A is like mountain and the same SPLM is the one that will build the South without or with these power struggle individuals.

    Isaiah Abraham.

Yes, I agree South Sudan is moving forward, regardless wether there was a rebellion or not. But one thing is certain it will forward this time without the corrupt, inept and the ruling communist party in the South, SPLM of yours.

I don’t care wether you have took up arm and fought for initial blind vision of united socialist sudan of Garang int the early ’80s, well, it looks like you are positioning yourself to have a Job in SPLM Gov’t after transition.(but Southerners will have plenty say about that after July 9).

But it is Good to know that there war veteran like you who wanted no change to the Socialist/communist ideologies and governance of the SPLM.

However, world have changed since 1989 and even former soviet satellites states of Eastern Europe i.e Romania, Bulgaria, Poland just to name a few have moved away from the old communist systems and into free market and western democratic principles. Let’s wait and see how the South will react to ever static SPLM Which even with today communism principles still is hanging on to the old outdated communism ideologies. which are already and today being discarded by today’s communist countries like China and Vietnam etc…

    Liberated,

Since you have become a spokenperson for the Rebels, you might as well answer these question. Are your associates rebelling because of the system? If so, do your so-called white army know any system other than food too fill up their stomach?

    typo: correction

Just because I have disagreed with the SPLM communism ideologies, it doesn’t make me the rebel mouthpiece. As a citizen of this Republic to be, I have every right to not be a blind supporter of communism ideologies that have been the trademark of SPLM. FYI: I have never an activist for any party in the South including of course the SPLM.

The so called Dinka Dominated SPLA, you forgot to mention Aok Thon and his brother who were in some cases worst than those you mentioned.

And by the way, I as a Dinka hate your alias The Dinka Dominated SPLA, it is divisive and people like you are the ones that bring insults and hatred to Dinka as a whole. I advise you to come up with different alias. All South Sudanese and non- South Sudanese participated in the SPLA/ SPLM struggle and because we are the lager tribe in Sudan or South and we have happened to have lager number in the SPLA does not mean we dominated the SPLA. The word domination is a bad word if use incorrectly and it was one of the reasons South Sudan fought with the North for over fifty years because they DOMINATED the Sudan governance and if you can agree with me with latter than you have to agree with me in regard to your alias, it is reflecting bad on us and would make us enemy which was not our enemy. Tribalism is a disease and you know disease kills and so does tribalism. It may not happen to you but it could happen to innocent Dinka or Dinkas.

    Dear Marco A. Wek
You must understand the words DOMINATION OR DOMINATED as a bad words but you got nothing to do about it just smoke it without doubt.
I myself i am a justice which mean i know how the movement started and is about to end. DOMINATION OR DOMINATED IS NOT a bad words but if you trying to denial the truth then go to hell, who in the hell dose’t know that the majorty of people who fought for the right of sudanses people are Dinkas in the world?
For your information human please Dinkas did not dominated SPLA/M for corruption or power hungry but for their brave so wether you like it or not I myself have 13 generals in my family who are fought and still fighting for this freedom of your.Apart from those 13 general i had lost 17 young men in my family since the war began so just shut up and do your own business man.
No one in our family had defected to the enemy God bless those who serve their country from enemies.
