Arab leaders praise Sudanese government’s peace efforts
TUNIS, May 24, 2004 (SUNA) — The Arab leaders have commended the efforts being exerted by the Sudanese government to achieve peace in the country, urging the regional and international parties to support these efforts.
The Arab leaders affirmed at the end of the Arab Summit Conference in Tunis Sunday, 23 May their solidarity with the Sudan, stressing importance of maintaining Sudan’s unity and sovereignty, renewing political commitment of their countries to support the peace efforts in Sudan.
The final communique of the Arab Summit Conference urged the Arab countries and funds to extend development assistance to Sudan in order to cement peace, hailing the role of the secretary-general of the Arab League in this connection.
