April 7, 2011 (JUBA) – Sudan president Omar Al-Bashir has refused to reverse a decision banning south Sudan’s members of the national parliament from attending sessions after their region voted massively to split from the north in a referendum this year.
They added that the issue was discussed on the margins of the meeting and Al-Bashir stressed that he would not overrule the constitutional articles which prohibit the participation of southern MPs in the parliament if the region voted for secession.
However, the sources added, Al-Bashir insisted that south Sudan’s ministers in the national government continue their duties until the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), which ended north-south war and shared power in 2005, expires in July this year.
Meanwhile, Al-Bashir-Kiir meeting has reached an agreement to start, as of Friday, the implementation of a UN-moderated agreement signed last January in Sudan’s town of Kadugli to provide security and allay tension in the north-south contested region of Abyei.
According to Thabo Mbeki, the chairman of the AU high-level implementation panel on Sudan who attended the meeting, the north-south joint political committee tasked with overseeing Kadugli agreement would hold a meeting today, Friday, to discuss views of both sides on the security situation.
Several talks between north and south Sudan have failed to yield an agreement over the oil-producing area of Abyei, where clashes recently occurred between south Sudan police and members of the north-linked nomadic tribe of Messirya.
Separately, Mbeki told reporters in Juba that north and south Sudan had decided to participate in a meeting due to be held in Washington on 15 April with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and Sudan’s creditors to discuss the issue of the country’s hefty external debt as well as pending economic issues between the two sides.
North and south Sudan agreed last month in Ethiopia to embark on joint efforts to secure relief of the country’s external debt.
Another meeting was held in juba between the chief negotiators of north and south Sudan on post-referendum arrangements. Pagan Amum, the secretary-general of the SPLM in south Sudan, on Thursday told reporters that his meeting with Salah Gosh of the NCP in north Sudan had discussed the issues of border demarcation as well as the remaining disputed points in the citizenship issue.

The person who was interviewing Al-Bashir (herein referrred to as interviewer) was total in confused!! He was not interviewing but rather listening to lecture from Al-Bashir, he was asking inrelvant questions not Expected question that southerners were expecting to be asked for Bashir. There is no need for you to blame Kiir at this particular time. Kiir is stick to implementation of the CPA. After all monitoring and evaluation has to be conducted by the International observers- those countries who were mediating the CPA till its signing date 2005. There will be an account on the implementation of the CPA and North will be accountable for failure. Abyei issue will triger an account of the CPA and hence NCP will face alot of problems.
Let us all know that we are dancing with foxes and let us accept that we are the problems to ourselves because by the nature we are born in with Jealousy, hatred, envy and etc. We are comfortable when we are termed as slaves, mistreated and dehumanised in our own land.

Back to the comments that was posted by Mapuordit, he is absolutely right but guys use the advantages of pretending themselves to be the war veterans during the struggle in the SPLA. Some of them joint SPLA/M recently and stood up to have a say in the GoSS and blocked the right veterans who did not like to advertized themselves like what they always did in the social places. In social places you find them mentioned some hear say fightings in so and so towns where we defeated the enemies and these are all hear says from the real fighters, if you don,t that.

Your comment is really nice and I appreciate all your points. First of all, you, I and many other Southerner patriots who were been in the bush have witness many bad atrocities which the Khartoum Government had been exercising against the Southern Sudanese people since the time of war and until this current time. But, however, I do put my inner blame on Mr Salva Kiir Miyardit himself who is now the one that the Southern Sudanese people thought and hope that he will redeem the Southern Sudanese people in hand of the enemies from Khartoum.
As you have mentioned in your comment that “If you don’t want Kiir to rise the flag, who will rise it anyway”? It is true, and in matter fact, the whole Southerner people’s eyes are on Mr Salva Kiir Miyardit as our main prominent founder leader who is present. My problem as well as others people who noticed it in their hearts about the move Mr Salva Kiir Miyardit is doing is not completely a good move. Why I say this? First,if you evaluated the performance of Salva Kiir Miyardit in his leadership, then there are many mess in which Mr Salva Kiir Miyardit have to be blame for, and you can see them below:
1. Salva Kiir Miyardit made a big mistake of threatening the International community in which they supported ICC for the arrestment of Omar Bashir according to his speech he had made in Juba.
2. In other circumstance, Salva Kiir Miyardit sent a warning letter to the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni in order not to capture Omar Bashir and handed him to the ICC.
3. Many corruptions became enumorous in his office and Salva Kiir voice is voiceless.
4. Number of children in Southern Sudan becomes now as the street children in all over Southern Sudan regions and Mr Salva Kiir Miyardit is very reluctance in his office in Juba. Children on the other hand,are our fresh fruits,our backbones and our seeds. In Arabic, mean “Teraap.” Salva Kiir did not achieve anything in this point.
5. Salva Kiir Miyardit fail to address the issue of Nuba and work earnestly for the Southern Sudan alone. Mr Achiek Alier Jr, if you where in Gilo River’s disaster and you becomes as the president of Southern Sudan like Salva Kiir Miyardit, then I don’t think whether you can forget about Nuba people. If you where present in Gilo, then you can know the way how Nubian people fought with Eritrean people and how they died in Gilo River.
6. Mr Salva Kiir Miyardit fail to address the problem of the border between the North and the South. Today, Arabs are still living in Ruweng region of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State, Panaruu region of Dinka Panaruu Community of Panrieng County in Unity State, Aweil and Dinka Ngok of Abyei. There are many more, but I just wanted to give you some few fundamental issues that are coiling themselves in Salva Kiir’s Administration in order for you to digest or know.
My dear Mr Achiek Alier Jr, the raising of the flag is not something which is difficult. What matter right now is the life which the Southern Sudanese citizens in Sudan are facing. Living condition amongst the civilians in Southern Sudan is worst indeed. Salva Kiir forget everything and work earnestly with Omar Bashir as brother and he forget that Omar Bashir is the first enemy to us. I don’t think that Salva Kiir is the right person.

I’m seeeking to be eduated by anyone of u who knows the importance of Sudan’s debt relief over crucial discussions about Abyei to the people of south sudan who are in this process represented by SPLM. one thing for sure I know is that the so-called national debt was used for financing war against south Sudan in the last civil war and development of North Sudan regardless of south. I think everything is very clear about Abyei which is already part of South I strongly believe that there is no need for long discussions. Khartoum is buying time.
