Sudan signs solidarity document among Arab countries
TUNIS, May 24, 2004 (SUNA) — Minister of foreign affairs and head of Sudan’s delegation to the Arab Summit Conference, Dr Mustafa Uthman Isma’il, signed a document of accord and solidarity among the Arab countries on behalf of the president of the republic, at the end of the summit conference in Tunis on Sunday 23 May.
The document, signed by the Arab leaders, affirmed their commitment to the Charter of the Arab League as well as solidarity towards a better future for the Arab countries and peoples and to work for the realization of just and comprehensive peace in the Arab area.
The document further affirmed the adherence of the Arab leaders to the Arab Peace Initiative, as adopted by the Arab Summit of Beirut in the year 2002, as well as boosting the inter-Arab relations towards comprehensive integration.
The Arab leaders further promised to initiate necessary amendments to the Charter of the Arab League and assigned the ministerial council to do such amendments.
