Nuba alliance denounces NCP’s proposal to break up of South Kordofan

April 18, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – The proposed break up of South Kordofan state has been opposed by the alliance of Western Nuba Mountains associations, societies and organizations, Ajras al Hurriyah newspaper reported on Saturday.

North Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party (NCP) has pledged to reinstate the state of West Kordofan should the party win the state’s gubernatorial elections set to begin in the first week of May.

West Kordofan was abolished and merged into South Kordofan state in 2005 as per the provisions of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), which ended decades of north-south war and accorded Abyei area of the state a special administrative status.

The Khartoum-based newspaper reported that the alliance said that re-establishing Western Kordofan State would ignore the opinions of citizens warning that the situation could explode accusing the NCP of being involved in serious violations in the region.

At a press conference at the Ajras al-Hurriyah office the chairman of the alliance, Kaki Kuwa said that the re-establishment of Western Kordorfan would be tantamount to splitting the state on ethnic racial and ethnic grounds. “This is dangerous and will harm the social set-up”, he said.

Western Kordorfan is primarily home to the Misseriya tribe an Arab cattle herding group, some of whom fought as proxies or as part of the NCP controlled Popular Defense Forces (PDF) during the North-South civil war.

Gubernatorial and legislative elections in oil-producing South Kordofan did not place with the rest of Sudan in April last year due to disagreements over a 2008 census.

Current governor, the Ahmed Haroun, who has been indicted for by the International Criminal Court for his alleged role in coordinating brutal militias during Khartoum’s counter-insurgency campaign in Darfur, is the NCP candidate despite not being from the state.

Tension flared up last week as Abdul Aziz Adam al-Hilu, a candidate of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) and the state’s deputy governor, accused militias loyal to Haroon of being behind an attack that killed at least 17 people in El-feid village.

The NCP deny being behind the attack, instead accusing the SPLM and in particular Al-Hilu of instigating the violence in an attempt to influence the outcome of the elections.

Under the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement, South Kordofan is due to hold a “popular consultation” after the elections to determine whether the agreement has met the aspirations of the state’s people and resolve any pending issues related to its implementation.

As part of the deal the South was granted the right to secede, which it voted for by an overwhelming majority in a January referendum. After July South Kordofan will remain in the North after the South secedes, despite many Nuba groups from South Kordofan, fighting with the South against Khartoum during the conflict.

NCP to divide the Kordofan into smaller size state is just maneuvor of thiers perception to silence the Kordofan citizen.

If the consenes is not yet reached between the Khartuom Governement-NCP and SPLM on the status quo, where do you guys think Nubian will react. Creat another reman rebellion and overthrown the State Governemnt headed by the man known to have his head shoked-off by Ocampo sword.

The solution will come from Nubian if want changes, they shouldn’t make mistake of taking indicted man token otherwise he will continued t4o creat more dead in Kordofan.

All Nubians people must have to rethinks twic again before the announcement of New Sudan or Southern Sudan independence take place.

Basically, it is not a surprise for you guys Nubian to hear such attitude from the Khartoum government. The indictment Omar Hassan Ahmed al Bashir had already bagun telling people in Eastern Sudan that, after Southern Sudan break away, the North Sudan will be Islam State while, there will be still some of none Arab cultures exist in North Sudan part although, the Southern Sudanese people were they one who pushing very hard the Khartoum domination to accepts the diversity of different tribes and differnt languages, the people indeed, who will remain with Northern Sudan domination will faces a touchest situation in their lives for really if not joning with Southern Sudan.

In the book of Islam it said, Islam mean peace but the question is, does the Islam of Omar al Bashir and his NCP real mean peace on the Darfur’s case.? The book also said, there is no discrimination in the Islam base on religion, skin, nationality and origin, but why Sudan government have been mistreating none Arabs unfairly even those Black African tribes who apparently believes same Muhammad as they do.? The thing which you guys hear from the leader of Omar al Bashir is something already well done and none Arab tongues must not ignored the fact. The Nubian do have their own culture although some are Muslim and others are Christian, they have their own culture for African tradition why should you be force to speak only Arabic language when your mother tongue is there.?

The Southern Sudanese have votes it in favor of her independence, because the Sudan nation had completely about 55 years without any good things the citizens could enjoy but killing innocents by the Khartoum government and divided citizens in to many conflicting for many years so, they decide to choose their independent and yes, they are going to be better than Northern Sudan in years to come even though Khartoum government are so jealously and they want to cause more problems among Southerners themselves, but they are going to come together in the short coming year.

The bottom line for none Arab who are thinking foolishly to united with Old domination of Khartoum government is that, do you guys thinks the problems of what let Southern Sudanese to choose its independence will not be apply on you.? You can see the case of Darfur when most Arab nations in the Middle East and elsewhere in North Africa, they were supporting Omar al Bashir not to get indictment from the ICC Judges and eventually, they were denying Black Muslim of Darfurian who are dying every single day under the Khartoum government plan. Also there is a lesson we have now learned in Libya’s case when 20 Arab leaders supporting Internationally this is because they saw the people who were looking for helps were Arab and they don’t want Libyan dictatorship to killed Arab but it is clear that, it was okay on the Darfurian to be kills by the Sudan’s dictatorship man as long as the Darfurian people were not real Arab then, the Arab leagu are not worry about the case of Darfur. Is this not make sense to Nubian and others who want to united with North Sudan domination.?

Well, the Khartoum government are trying to form another region for real Arab to remain in there, because they thinks South Kordofan and South Blue Nile and other Darfur will go with Southern Sudan and this is not only logically but the history can tell that, none Arab in Sudan are so tired about mistreatment of Khartoum government and one way or another the Arab in Sudan will be ask to back up from all regions they occupies and these Misseriya tribe and others Arab cattle herding groups have no rights to claim at Western Kordofan region this is not joking it is belong to Nubian people. They are now trying to claim on the Abyei District which they have no any rights at all to claim since it is only known for Dinka Ngok chiefdom in Bahr al Ghazal regions, the Misseriya and many others nomadic tribes are going to faces all kinds of difficulties the NCP have created for them and they accepted to be brianwashing.

Silence is part of failure and gain disadvantage, should the Nubian people allowing Khartoum domination to continues, you have to answer in your heart and not just saying thing rhetoric, the Southern Sudanese people did answer for Khartoum domination and I don’t see any reason why it is difficult for Nubian people and people of Blue Nile to do it when it is already done by Southern Sudanese.
