GARANG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OMITTED

The Vice Chancellor of Garang memorial University, Professor Aggrey Ayuen said Sudan’s Minister for Higher education, Peter Aduok did not notify the admission board in Khartoum about the readiness of Garang University to host 40 students in each of its four existing faculties of Law, Environmental Studies, Agriculture and Science and Technology, making a total of 160 students.

Professor Aggrey, who is appointed last March as the Vice-Chancellor expressed the readiness of his University to host 160 new students this year.

Dr. John Garang de Mabior Institute of Science and Technology in Bor was established in 2008 by former Governor Philip Thon Leek in an agreement with ASCOM Co., a Moldovan oil company operating in Jonglei.

Since Garang University was established as a branch of Moldova International University (ULIM) in 2008, only 104 qualified students were admitted to the four existing faculties of Pharmaceutical Technology, Ecology, Law and forestry and Public Garden with 26 students per Faculty.

Some of these faculties were changed; Forestry and Public Garden was changed to faculty of Agriculture, Ecology was renamed as Environmental studies, pharmaceutical technology was changed to Science and Technology.

In February 2009, South Sudan government took the University from Moldovan authorities and Professor Aggrey was nominated by GoSS president, Salva Kiir as the Vice Chancellor after south pledged to clear 2 million Sudanese pounds for the premises and other assets put in by Moldovans. This caused a loss of one academic year when South Sudanese found it hard to find some money to run the University.

In March 2010, the Sudanese President, Omer Hassan Al-Bashirin a presidential decree, recognized the institute as university and appointed Professor Aggrey Ayuen as the Vice Chancellor.

Bad language, are you switching from the language of Dinka and Nuer to Bor and Bahr El Ghazal? Why are you our people like to divide South into tribal and regional sectarianism? What a pity? Why are you not blaming the ministry of education instead of Bahr El Ghazal?

Do you think by put the blame on Bahr El Ghazal will get you more support or solve the problem you complaining about? People of your type who generalized a community are nothing but bad cancer in South Sudan?
