The sacking of Gosh comes after he publicly fell out with the presidential assistant and vice-president of Al-Bashir’s ruling National Congress Party (NCP), Nafi Ali Nafi, over the dialogue conducted with certain opposition parties by the Presidential Security Advisory, which Gosh chairs.

Salah Gosh served as a director-general of Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) for several years until he was demoted to the rank of a presidential adviser for security affairs in August 2009.
