Second phase in women’s vocational center, Aluakluak

April 30, 2011 (RUMBEK) – Plans to construct a residence for tutors and directors at the newly launched women’s vocational institute are underway it was announced on 28 April, on location.
This was revealed on Thursday by the project manager for capacity building and human resource development in the ministry of labor and public service, Stephen Takunya, in his speech at the official opening of the Women’s Institute.
Takunya said that special funds have been put aside for the construction of a residence for both tutors and administrators of Aluakluak Women’s Vocational Training Institute. The project will cost SDG1.65 million (US$618,000).
He said that the residence will consist of two structures: one block for tutors, and bungalows for the director and his deputy.
He attributed the delay in the laying of the foundation stone of the tutors’ residence to the procrastination of the company contracted to build the institute.
Takunya thanked the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) for their role in implementing this project.
A representative of the NPA at the celebration said that his organisation has been present and active in South Sudan for the last 25 years.
Aluakluak Women’s Vocational Training Institute in Lakes State was officially opened on Thursday.
It is the first vocational institute of its kind in South Sudan and will offer women skills like accounts, book keeping, information technology, tailoring, catering, carpentry, and mechanics.
