Five people killed, one wounded in Rumbek Central County in revenge attack

May 2, 2011 (RUMBEK) – The Commissioner of Rumbek, Lakes state, Matur Majok Magol, has said that “five people were killed in cold blood last night in Rumbek Central county,” on Monday by pastoralist youths he suspected to be from Cueibet county, also of Lakes state, who were seeking to revenge.
Four women including and young girl and a mother of a one half year old baby and one man were killed in the attack.
Commissioner of Cueibet county, Mayom Malek said that “police in Cueibet county are now being instructed to follow up this issue and justice will take place as the culprits are brought book.”
However, Lakes state legislative assembly member Mabor Ater Dhuol, affirmed that Rumbek central county commissioner has failed to provide sufficient protection to citizens of Pool-bet, where the recent attack took place.
Dhuol said that “there are five people confirmed to have been killed on the ground, by gunshot.” He went onto criticise the authorities by saying “There is no protection provide[d] to them by county authorit[ies].”
Commissioner Magol, denied the accusation of negligence, saying that “Mabor Dhuol is a liar – I have provided enough police forces at the zone of clashes – there are enough security personnel monitoring the situation and I am now receiving daily updates on how the situation is being brought under control by both counties: Cueibet and Rumbek central county”.
Alual Marial, a woman who was at the scene said that the four women and one man killed were sleeping at their house. She said they were not aware what was happening and were killed between 12.00pm and 1.00am by Cueibet pastoralist youths.

The Agaar community among the Dinka is a very odd. No part of Dinka is so dull and backward like them. They will finish killing each another. Government needs to use extreme force on these wild ones. They need to be weeded out in the community by apprehending and applying death the penalty on them. Because this mad wild youth will kill other people in the next few days if the government leaves them alone. What they are doing can destabilizes Lake State and instability of one state can destabilizes the whole country.

Allow me to challenge the deteriorating situtaion of the Lakes State as one of the ten States that comprised South Sudan-expected new born Country among the 54 African Countries and 194 in the World Countries series. We the readers or commenters, reporters and the entire world observers have seen, heard and made millions of strategic questions and resolutions on how peace could be restored in Lakes State and hence, many of us are failing to get possible solutions: At time of Daniel Deng Monydit as the Governors/Regional Commander Lakes State/Bar El Ghazal and Paul Mayom as the Commissioner for Greater Lakes; Communal fighting that account for thousands of lives was seen as a project of resource mobilisation for the only bottle necks. The communal fighting extended from killing of youth-Chiefs-Woman and Children. Killing is internal and External. It is internal when Lakes State communities fight themselves and external when Lakes State community fight their closed neighbor States like Unity, Western Equatoria and Warrap. A State that was a leading State in the SPLA struggles became the host state harboring spirit of Human killings. It will not be far from finger pointing to some SPLA/M bottle necks who put the rules and laws into their pockets and harvest more from community conflicts for the seek of “Insecurity or security fund”.
Many States have prioritzed the insecurity in their annual budget for the past five years and there is no single signficiant progress or Achievement reach so far in Lakes and Governor is investing more money in his two accounts named His Belly account and His Fiscal account. The facts remain that, although elections were lawfully undertaken, the elected Governor is still being drived or given advised by those elements who are not purified, those elements who developed Project of “Killing one another” and appoint implementers every year, months and days. This Project of Killing one another has reached its sustainability and there would be no any other person to close this project. My own view as i am very disparate, i am thinking negatively that, the Government of South Sudan should dissolve, disintegrate Lakes State to become non existence completely. In this proposal some bottle necks, who are wrong advisors in Lakes State Government will definitely raise questions like where are we and where have we gone to? They will answer to H.E. President that: ” It is our State and we are here to resolve conflicts and bring peace or It is the Administration of so and so and we want to put mr. X and Y as the right officials to Administer the Lakes State Administration”. Who else shall bring peace in Lakes? Who can listen to the poor and illiterate communities subjected to fighting? Do we need President Kiir to be the Governor of Lakes State? The son of Chut Dhuol was killed when Dr. John Garang was in Rumbek and therefore, i do not think, there are reserved, honest,just SPLM leaders left in Lakes State. They come good and oriented by the bottle necks to become worst.
There is no State whose activities are: Killing themselves and killing their neighbours and State that lacks element of building internal and external relations compare to Lakes State. State that take all things in the Political point of View and hence, lack Administrative procedures. Governor, sack and appoint commissioners without Administrative procedures. Governor sacked Headmaster of Rumbek Seconndary School without Administrative procedure and appoint unprofessional officer to head the School. Governor listen to man when he was elected by the majority. Anyway, I blame my community and the President.

Let me tell u the killed woman of Cueibet county was not killed intentionally but was caught up on a cross fire then they came for revenge killing four women and one man from Rumbek centre and their woman was killed by Agar of Rumbek north can u imagine. And am here condemning the two killings while u idiot is on one side.

It is too bad that people are killing themself and the authority in Rumbek are not doing anything.
It happens today three Firebriadge (Matafi) personnel who were on the mission from Juba to Aweil were stopped in their car at Abeer and were shot dead. Of these personnel, two are from Cueibet and one is from Aweil. I am afriad those from Cueibet will stop and kill any anyone in the car that look like Agar and the cycle will continue.
I condemn this act and it is not benefiting anyone in our State. we should put pressure on our government to act and put an end to this cold blood killing of innocent people.

It is too bad that our people are killing themself like that and the government is very quiet. It happens to that three people were murdered in Abeer near Rumbek town. These are innocent people from Firefighter(Matafi) unit who were sent on mission from Juba to Wau. Their car was stopped and were shot dead. Their eyes were poke (removed, ears were cut and their uniforms were removed and left on the road. It was horrible scene. Two of the murdered were identified to be from Cueibet and one was from Aweil.
I am afriad those from Cueibet may start stopping any vehicle now and murder anyone that like Agaar and the cycle will continue.
I appeal that we put pressure on our government to act and put an end to this horrible killing. No one either side is going to benefit from this act of murdering innocent people.
