W. Equatoria, Lakes, Northern and Western Bahr-el Ghazal states to build strong relationship

May 3, 2011 (YAMBIO) – The four states of Western and Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Lakes and Western Equatoria are to build a strong relationship in order to build the new nation of South Sudan, the governor of Western Equatoria said on Tuesday.

The governor of Western Equatoria state Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro disclosed that the governors held a meeting on Sunday in Juba “with the three governors of Western, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, and Lakes states so as to build strong relationships as the south gears towards declaration of independence in July.”

South Sudan is due to secede on July 9, after a referendum in January saw a overwhelming vote in favour of separation from the north. The plebiscite was agreed as part of a 2005 peace deal that ended decades of conflict.

Extra police and security forces have been deployed along the border between Western Equatoria and Lakes state after clashes between ethnic groups killed 11 people in April.

A reconciliation meeting has since been held involving state level and local officials to try and resolve the problems that led to the conflict.

Bakosoro said that the meeting also resolved that “the three other governors are due to visit Western Equatoria state in the coming days to discuss mechanisms on how we intend to build strong ties.”

“As southern Sudanese it is high time to have mutual understanding for the development and building of the new Republic of south Sudan,” stressed Bakosoro.

On the 16 April 2011, the three governors of Equatoria met in Juba for the Equatoria conference where it was resolved that, all the regions across the south should be united.

He stated that, Western Equatoria state will continue to advocate for the unity of the states of South Sudan.

“We have fought enough, now time has come for all southerners to enjoy the fruit of the 55 years of struggle for peace, prosperity, development of south Sudan” he said.

Bakosoro, just three months after his inauguration ceremony following elections in April 2010, led a ministerial delegation to Western Bahr el Ghazal and Lakes States to seek peaceful coexistence among the three states.

The ten governors of southern states are due to embark on a study tour to Nigeria, Botswana and Ghana.

Bakosoro a colonel in the South Sudan army, which is constituted from the former southern rebels the SPLA, was the only independent candidate to win a governorship contest in last year’s elections.

To those who are preaching hatred of tribalism like ,Liberator and his associates ,will never see the south sudan.
They are barking outside south sudan, and most of them are homeless in U.S.A.without good education background too, since they acquired the little primary education in refuges camps across the sudan neighboring countries .

    TO: General public

DUH!! That what supposed to happened in a federalized system. Where the less fortunate states in term of natural resources are obliged to have intrastate states cooperation.

But if these is another conspiracy diguise as development scheme, then it dooms to fail. Greater Upper Nile could afford to be an independent state. and very rich one I might add.

Peace will prevail to those who advocate for it. We want to live in peace and make peace with those who love it. To does who don’t want it let them not look for it but enjoy their hatred behavior.

Some states in the South Sudan don’t want to live in peace at all and they don’t even want to wast their time to look for it from those who love it.

Don’t be jealous if your neighbor is looking for peace. We can’t just live in hatred, killing each other and fight tribal wars forever, time for peace and reconciliation has come for us, yours is still too far from you. Enjoy your hatred.
