Uganda’s Museveni invites Sudanese president to his swearing-in ceremony
May 9, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir today received an invitation from his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni to attend his inauguration ceremony on May 12th where he will be sworn in for a fourth term.
The report did not say whether Bashir would attend the ceremony. The Kampala-based New Vision newspaper said that 13 presidents confirmed attendance so far including South Sudan leader Salva Kiir who is also Bashir’s VP.
Relations between Sudan and Uganda are already strained over Kampala’s support of South Sudan’s independence and harboring Darfur rebel figures recently. The ICC issue is also one of the reasons for the tension.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) charged Bashir with war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide he allegedly orchestrated in the war-torn Darfur region where the United Nations estimates a humanitarian crisis has claimed 300,000 lives since a 2003 revolt by rebels demanding more wealth and power.
Uganda is a signatory to the ICC’s statute and is therefore theoretically obligated to apprehend Bashir once he sets foot on its territory. The Sudanese leader has so far managed to visit three ICC members namely Chad, Kenya and most recently to Djibouti without issues.
Sudan’s president has snubbed two conferences in Uganda including an African Union summit since the issuance of the warrant. Kampala has given subtle warnings to Bashir not to visit in the past to avoid a “diplomatic incident”.
The AU issued two decisions since 2009 instructing its members not to cooperate with the ICC with regards to the arrest warrants even if they are members of the court. Some African countries including Uganda have refused to comply with the resolution.
In a related issue Amnesty International today issued a statement expressing regret over Djibouti’s refusal to arrest Bashir this weekend where he attended the inauguration ceremony of president Ismail Omar Guelleh.
“As Djibouti has been a state party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court since 2003, the national authorities are obliged to cooperate with the Court, including arresting persons it has charged” the London-based group said.
“It is also troubling that senior government members from both France and the United States of America reportedly attended the inauguration alongside President Al-Bashir, as the Security Council, in its referral of the situation in Sudan to the International Criminal Court in 2005, explicitly urged all states to cooperate fully with the Court,”.
“Amnesty International is also calling on the International Criminal Court to make a finding of non-cooperation by Djibouti and to transmit that finding to the Security Council, as provided by article 87(7) of the Rome Statute”.

If this invitation is true from his heart then Museveni is trying to join the criminal groups and divert his attentions from the West because of the criticisms that his Government is receiving these days on dealing with the opposition’s walk-to-work demonstrations. Why do you invite the criminals to spoil your inauguration party?
But I believe Beshir will still be arrest one day.

I wonder if Ugnada is a signitory to the ICC Rome Statue ! If so, then , Ugnada must accomplish that which is demanded from it in making sure that the ICC wanted people like El-Bashir are apprehended and made to answere charges on war crimes and crimes agianst humanity !
If Ugnada insists that Bashir honours its invitation, then I urge other Presidents and diplomats from other Countries NOT to dine together with the ICC wanted criminal El-Bashir lest they become criminals themselves !

In fact, Museveni still need to answer lots of questions as to how late Dr. John Garang died. In fact, Museveni’s invitation is absolutely welcome though he had worked earnestly to fraud the recent election held in Uganda.
I also heard from a very reliable source that during Museveni’s compaign, he paid some money to buy votes. It was truly humiliating for him.
Though, he supports South Sudan in many ways, he must also acknowledge the true feeling of Uganda People.

Whoop! I cannot wait to see how thoughtless Museveni is! Bashir is a criminal murderer and the second wanted man after Bin Laden dead! Their union will mean a lot of thing specially, the death of our leader Dr. John Garang who was close friend to Museveni. Shortly after Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed, Garang want to Khartoum under Bashir’s authority. They were monitoring him until his death in the boarder of Uganda and Sudan.
According to the Scriptures Book of “Mark 4:22 for whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open”
There is no doubt in mind that Garang was murdered, whoever his hands are on him will be curse forever.

Bashir is going to attend the inagurations of Uganda President to prove to the world that he is the only big fish in the Africa Ocean. African dictators are not going to apprehend him to ICC. I hope after declartion of South Sudan Independent Bashir will confine himself in the North and will be event silent in African politics and more likely will be hunt by US and France. The reason US and France did not take action to apprehend him in Djbouti is very clear. US and France are good in a certaining suituation that would provoke ripen South Sudan

Bashir is a clever cat and I think he won’t make mistake to leave Khartourm for Kampala for Musenei inauguration. Museveni is a democratic promoter and he stands always on his promises since he came into power many years ago. If Bashir goes there, then that will be his last stumble at all.
Museveni is not entertained by the attitudes of Bashir and I think, museveni was not meaning to invite Bashir to attend his inuguration.

If Beshir attend this ceremony then I’ll not trust any African leader because they don’t live up to their promises and commitments.

Arabs world uprising for 2011 and will be follow by African world uprising by 2012. Transitional Constitution for Republic of South Sudan give more powers to President to an extend of relieving elected MPs and State Governors and failed short of Elected President will be brought down by those who elected him. Soon South is joining the ICC membership and we shall see wether it is going to apprehend Bashir after Independent shuold Bashir set foot on Republic of South Sudan. Let us wait and see.

I think people need to understand the president of Uganda once again that he has secret terrorist planning and struggle going on in his heart. People believe he is the one who killed, Rwada president, Zaire, (Republic of Congo) John Garang, and he is also killings the Southern Uganda civilians with HIV virus.
He is CIA and ICC at the same time.
I think President Omar need to understand by degree that Uganda President is far worst than Kenya in need of arresting him due to add of his personnal feeling and interest. Egypt is showing serousness in planning to get Bashir arresting because they want to do favor to USA due to their new political changed appreciation.
