Two vehicles struck in Sudan’s Bentiu by landmines
May 12, 2011 (BENTIU) – Two vehicles have been struck by landmines in the capital of Sudan’s Unity state on Thursday morning, Sudan Tribune has learned.
The incident occurred at 8 am to the two cars just 20 kilometers from Bentiu.
Col. John Madeng Gatduelm a former Mayom County commissioner, told Sudan Tribune by phone that these cars were heading to Tharjath when they stepped into a landmine field.
The presence of landmines is apparently linked to recent clashes between the Sudan People Liberation Army (SPLA) and forces loyal to rebel leader Peter Gatdet.
Last week, a Unity State government spokesperson accused Gatdet militias of planting landmines in to threaten the transportation of South Sudanese ahead of their independence that will be official in July.
The recent clashes between the two sides claimed the lives of 84 people loyal to Gatdet, according to SPLA figures.
South Sudan, which voted in a January referendum to become an independent state, formally ending decades of conflict with the north, has seen a surge of rebel and tribal violence, marring the celebrations ahead of the secession.
Analysts warn that the underdeveloped south, due to split away in July, could become a failed state and destabilize the whole region if security deteriorates further.
More than 1,100 people have been killed in tribal and rebel violence in south Sudan so far since the referendum, according to official figures

Gatdet is so blind & visionless,why would he plant landmine while he knows the people are still traveling back to the South?

Rebels will not be finished by fighting. SPLM led government in Juba should come to their sense and seek peaceful solution with those discontent with the system of rule in south Sudan.
Even a small number in a bush can not be finished by fighting, we have seen this in so many places and what is happening now. Otherwise south Sudan will continue to have high rate of rebel related killings.
There will be continuous insecurity in south Sudan if SPLM led government thought they will do away with rebels by fighting.
I pray God brings in wise leader to do away with all what is happening in our beloved south Sudan.

It is good for those absent minded Nuer to learn from what they have done. Those landmines which impede the vehicles were put their in 1991 by Nuer in order to kill Dinka. In 1991, when Nuer declared their defection from the SPLA, they placed those landmines between Mayom and Biemnom in order to stop those of Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom to attack Nuer. Now, it is good that the disaster itself go back to Nuer. Whether the vehicles struck at 8:00am, or even at 9:00am I don’t care. Nuer are always opposite. When people tried to unite, they just diverted themselves and do absurd things which are not supposed to be done by a human being. Let Nuer enjoyed their own reckless.
One thing that I really don’t like from Nuer is stealing, looting, lack of reasoning capacity, longing some body’s property and lacking of perseverance in their hearts. Whether I am right or wrong, Nuer in whole will not bring any significant history to their community except only stealing and looting will be the only characters that people will know from Nuer. In my own prediction, Nuer people later on in Southern Sudan will be like Mexican people in America believe me or not.

Nuer are like the Americans who have invaded a land inhabited by Indians and Mexican.
Nuer have many similarity with the Americans, their grand parents fought against the one man rule which is so common in Dinka like England King George who wanted free loving American to be under his rule.
They told him to go and shove it up your rear-end. and introduced Democracy which has been replicated all over the world.
Likewise, Nuer have their traditional Democracy even before the arrival of the British who fought against them in order to Nuer to submit to their system. Nuer was the last tribe in the whole continent to finally submit to British rule.
Even after that they didn’t allowed the British to altered their system of Democracy equiavalent to that of the United States.(that no one is above the other. everyone is equal)
No master slave relationship in Nuer System. But Dinka do have such system and that’s why the Americans are so suprised about the contrast between the two tribes.
Americans dispised even to this day the monarchy system still practices by their old foe the U.K
Coming to Mexican, I doubt you ever seen one or even know what you are talking about! Mexicans are bordering the United States, They have free trade with the United States.
Canada too have the same trade system with the U.S
I do not get your point by comparing Nuer with the Mexicans.?
Nuer owns part of South Sudan. Mexicans in the United States are the citizen of this country. some migrated here like many legally some are not.
So, are you saying that Nuer are aliens to that land called South Sudan or what else do you mean?

When people come looking to invest in S.Sudan there going to see people killing each other walk right back out and look for a better country to invest in.

Hey Mr Liberator,
I know that you are from Nuer by nationality. In fact, when I comments about Nuer, I means their is something wrong with Nuer people even the one who is still in his mother womb. I had been living with Nuer people for long time since in Sudan,Nasir, Jokou,Tharpam and all the way to Panyidu camp. I know Nuer people very well my dear.
I will repeat it again to you that Nuer will never gain any history. The only history which they will gain and known for is stealing, looting and longing other people property.
In 1984 before I went to Tharpam, I used to live in Bentiu, Mayom,Tharkuer, Nyiromni and Biel village of Nuer. In those areas, I experienced many difficulties from Nuer themselves.
So, when I talked about Nuer, I know what I am talking about my dear. Nuer people are majority, but, however, they are stunted in minds. What a Dinka man think can took a Nuer man for 20 years, or more to analyze it. Can you believe that? I think you will digest my point properly as a right without doubt.

It’s difficult my friend when you dealing with people whose thinking are to lost what they have if they do right thing.For this, it causes frustration which leave you no choice but do something about it. Now, there are many countries having problems because they have been govern following only tribal lines whether things are not rights.
I don’t think you ever lived with Nuer people base on the way you characterized Nuer.my friend, you can say no to wrong and yes to right because it’s a universal basic to bring human in right path. Nuer do not cover up wrong doing; you’re Nuer or dinka,you will never get a way with it.
