South Sudan Vice President travels to Malaysia for Commonwealth nations conference
May 13, 2011 (JUBA) – The Vice President of South Sudan, Riek Machar, has travelled to Malaysia to participate in the conference of the Commonwealth nations which is scheduled to begin on Saturday.
Machar who left Juba for the Malaysian’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday, said he would use the opportunity availed by the forum to lobby among the Commonwealth countries for recognition of South Sudan’s independence which shall be formally declared on 9 July.
Established in 1931, the Commonwealth nations organization works to promote democracy, human rights, good governance and the rule of law, individual liberty, egalitarianism, free trade, multilateralism and world peace.
The membership of the Commonwealth nations comprises more than 50 countries from the continents of North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia; most of which were former British colonies, or dependencies of these colonies. The organization is headed by Queen Elizabeth II of Britain.
The Vice President told the press shortly before his departure at Juba International Airport that he would meet with individual world leaders at the sideline of the conference to lobby them during his five days participation in the conference.
The people of South Sudan voted overwhelmingly by over 98% in favour of secession from the rest of Sudan in an internationally monitored referendum on self-determination which was conducted in January 2011. The plebiscite came as a result of the 2005 peace deal which ended 21 years of civil war between North and South.
President Omer Hassan Al Bashir of Sudan accepted the outcome of the vote, saying it was expressing the will of the people of the semi-autonomous region.
The leadership has also been dispatching senior officials of the government to hand-deliver invitations to foreign dignitaries in Africa to attend the day of its independence proclamation. Over eighty per cent (80%) of the 53 countries in Africa have already accepted the invitations.
Machar also revealed that his government will participate in the meeting of the United Nations Security Council scheduled to take place on July 13 in New York, during which the recognition of South Sudan’s independence by the world body shall be on the agenda.

Dr. Riek Machar have really trying to bring this country under good system but the looters and tribal men are aways fight against him including his tribal men James Hoth, John Luk, Taban Deng, Chuol Rambang and many more. People thinking as they are favouring the interest of SPLM/A but it is not; because they both don’t have any supporters from Nuer community that why they are trying to blind-fool Kiir and beg him to let them continues with those positions. But Kiir don’t know yet that they are distoryed his leadership.

Thanks You very much Dr. Machar for the agenda you have to present in that conference for the interest of our nation.
I belief all tribes that God has created tentionally to occupied the land of Southren Sudan will be there all, though some people will never appreciate the diversity.
To me, I thank God for creating others because it is good to have different people other than that of your own tribe.
I don’t really understand why people are trying to correct God for creating different people and yet when it comes to order food from the restaurants or preparing it, a lot of spices are added to makes it tastety. And that is what God did so that others who love the diversity like me shall not feel bored of interacting with the same people, same culture, same langauge and same, same many other things all the time. Anyway, that is how we are as a human beings.
Safe juorney and safe return.

Breaking news,
May 16 celebrations in Bor is postponed.
Does any body know the reason behind the abrupt postponement of May 16 celebration which was supposed to take place in Bor next Monday?
This will be the third time May 16 has been deferred for another day since 2008.
The first time of deffering the date came when Ngundeng’s dang was brought from Britain on May 16. It was meant to coincide with this important date, but instead the celebrations of SPLA May 16 was abruptly shifted to 26.
Now I have been reading on Sudan Tribune that the celebrations will be done in Bor on May 16 by the GOSS with president Salva Kiir present, but here comes the abrupt postponement.
What is going on?

This is ridiculous. Why South Sudan does have to lobby for recognition when her independence is legal and legitimate as per CPA? South Sudan recognition is automatic by the world bodies and countries because her independence was achieved through a legal and legitimate process stipulated in CPA.
May be he is going there to lobby for membership of South Sudan into Commonwealth but not for South Sudan to be recognize as a country.
South Sudan did not achieve her independence through unilateral declaration of independence which might have divided the world opinion but the independence was achieved through a legal process which does not further require lobbying for recognition.
What he should be doing is to approach countries for whom South Sudan wants to exchange ambassadors with but not to lobby for recognition as a country.
This will look naïve and less serious business to discuss.

Secondly, I do always see many dogs barking shit against James Hoth Moi. But human being has different nature even the kids from the same parent have their identity. In every community, there is salt to be tested as Jesus mentioned.
Hoth and other Nuer will soften their community to best level of our interest as the New Nation. Please! He must be respected as the leader and the hero who never aligned with enemy of his country.

Nhomlawda,
Brother I thought you would have understood without any difficulty what it means to be recognized as a new born nation by individual countries around the world.
Yes, the process toward independence of the South has been legal through the CPA, but yet there is need for recognition of its final outcome by all countries including North Sudan of Bashir despite being the one implementing the CPA process.
The CPA is an internal arrangement in Sudan while its outcome into bearing a new independent state requires recognition by external bodies.
You talked of just need to lobby the nations to open embassies in South Sudan, and of course for a country to open an embassy it should first recognize that a new nation has been born and accepted by the world. Then the next step is to deal with that new nation.
There are other requirements as well that some countries want to see before recognizing a new nation. And one of them is whether or not we are well off and not a failed state in waiting.
Even the United Nations Security Council as reported will have to discuss whether or not to recognize South Sudan’s independence based on many issues to be considered first.
So, it not just about implementing an agreement and automatically getting recognized. It is more than that and needs a hard work to achieve it. Our leaders know it far better than us the lay men and that is the reason why they are lobbying for it.

Subject: SPLM Message to the Masses on the occasion of May 16th Celebration
Dear Comrades;
God bless the south Sudan and it’s people,
This May 16th, 2011 is the proudest day in the History of our struggle because it marks the biggest achievement of the Movement. We as SPLM need to recognize the tremendous sacrifice of our people, especially the 3 million martyrs who gave their lives for this newest country. It also shows how if we are united in our efforts and spirit, nothing can defeat us.
Let’s also recognize and thank our people; the elders, youth, women, chiefs, teachers and our gallant SPLA soldiers for their continuous contributions and support in their different capacities. Above all let us thank our people for voting the SPLM into the Government and again voting for freedom during the Referendum, allowing the SPLM to fulfil its promise of leading them to the Promised Land.
On this 16th May, we want to make another promise to the people of South Sudan that SPLM will continue to work for their freedom, peace, security and a prosperous country. There will be challenges, but if we remain united, we will achieve all our dreams.
I am therefore calling all of you SPLM leaders in the Executive, legislative and political positions, to mark this great day by thanking our people for their contributions and reiterate to them that the SPLM has met their promises and will continue to lead them through the nation building starting from July 9th, 2011.
Secondly in this celebration we should organize our people, each holding a lit candle as symbol of hope for a bright future.
Thank you for the usual cooperation.
Thank to our brave leaders
