U.S. condemns Sudan army’s takeover of Abyei and dissolution of council

May 21, 2011 (WASHINGTON) – The United States on Saturday rebuked the Sudanese government over its army’s move on the disputed border region of Abyei which elevated fears of a full-scale war between the North and South.

UN troops in Abyei, South Sudan (AP)

Sudan state TV quoted an unidentified military source as saying that the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) managed to take over Abyei and inflicted heavy losses on the “enemy”.

“The SAF reached the town of Abyei by sunset and tightened control over it and drove enemy forces to the South,” the source said.

Prior to that the Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir issued two simultaneous decrees dissolving the Abyei’s administrative council and firing its head, his VP and the directors of the five departments within the body.

The United States deplored today’s moves saying that it “condemns the offensive operations being undertaken by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in and around Abyei town and today’s presidential decree dissolving the Abyei Administration”.

A White House statement called on SAF “to immediately cease all offensive operations in Abyei and withdraw its forces from Abyei.”

“Failure to do so could set back the process of normalizing relations between Sudan and the United States and inhibit the international community’s ability to move forward on issues critical to Sudan’s future. The actions being taken by the government of Sudan are blatant violations of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and threaten to undermine the mutual commitment of the CPA parties to avoid a return to war “.

Today’s escalation comes on the heels of an attack that took place near Abyei on Thursday which targeted an SAF convoy that was pulling out of the area with an escort from the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS).

The Sudanese government said that 22 SAF soldiers were killed and scores were still missing in the attack that they blamed on the Sudan People Liberation Army (SPLA). UNMIS condemned the assault but declined to point finger at the party behind the attack.

SAF has said at the time that it reserves the right to respond “in the right time and place”.

Abyei was scheduled to hold a referendum last January on whether to be part of the North or an independent South but it was put on hold after both sides failed to agree on who would be eligible to vote.

The SPLA confirmed an SAF offensive on the contested region since Friday.

“The Sudan Armed Forces attacked four villages on Friday and it again attacked five other villages on Saturday, today. These attacks have claimed lives of local innocent civilians. Some of them were bombed. Others were killed in the cross fire staged by advancing ground forces of the Sudan Armed forces”, said SPLA spokesperson Colonel Phillip Aguer Panyang.

Ngor Aguot, a Sudan Tribune reporter in Abyei said he saw warplanes dropping bombs at four different locations in the region on Friday and Saturday.

The acting head of the SPLM in Abyei, Juac Agok said the aircrafts were military assets of the SAF.

“It is the Sudanese government in Khartoum and its armed forces which owns war planes it uses to bomb her citizens. They have resumed air attack today in Abyei in five other different villages. They bombed Mabok, they bombed Alal, and they again bombed Todac which they bombed yesterday”, explained Agok.

Marial Benjamin Bil, minister of information in the of government of South Sudan (GoSS), said in a telephone interview with Sudan Tribune on Saturday from Juba that he received reports from Abyei that SAF have once again bombed the area today.

“There are reports from Abyei that the Sudan Armed Forces have once again bombed the area today. They have bombed five other different villages today. A village called Alal, Mabok and Todach which they bombed yesterday were again bombed”, said Bil.

The minister said the Sudan Armed Forces used long range artilleries for launching attacks and used other heavy weapons and tanks in the ground attacks.

He also slammed Bashir’s decrees saying it violated the CPA and was not made in consultation with GoSS chief Salva Kiir.

UNMIS leadership decided to raise security levels in Abyei to a red.

The new security level restricts movement of its staff members outside the camp. It requires them to stay either inside their offices, accommodation or any area identified as safe.

“In the view of prevailing security situation, the alert state is elevated to red. All movement outside UNMIS camp is restricted until further notice. All the staff members are advised to stay either inside their offices, accommodation, or safe area and avoid roaming about. Should the siren be sounded all staff must immediately proceed to the bunkers”, reads part of the UNMIS statement extended to Sudan Tribune.

Sudan Tribune reporter said that SAF entered Abyei around 8 pm and said he was locked in a UN compound surrounded by 15 tanks.

“We are in a state of captivity respecting orders and any other instructions so many of us did not eat. There is no food. We do not move and do not receive or makes phone calls. Our fate is at the mercy of the Sudan Armed Forces with whom United Nations is negotiating” he said via email.

The North and South are supposed to have withdrawn all of their forces from Abyei by this week except for a special joint force made up of units from both sides in accordance with an agreement they signed earlier this year.

A visiting United Nations Security Council (UNSC) delegation has also reportedly cancelled a planned visit to Abyei as a result of the ongoing clashes. However, a meeting was arranged between the council members and representatives of the Misseriya’s and the Dinka Ngok tribes who are the main residents of Abyei.

Look at this embarrassement to SPLA and poor diplomacy by Salva Kiir’s people.

Cowards who never fought the real war since 1983 but hid in refugee camps, should not be allowed to lead South into war based on emotions while hiding.

I am the real southerner that was part of the self-determination vision since I was a red army which brought you the independence in January’s referendum.

The champion of self-determination, Dr. Riek Machar, using his wise strategy also won the Abyei territory in the Hague. What remained was more diplomacy to get Abyei to the South.

Now your emotional folks have spoiled it all.

I advised your foolish brain last time on this net that the war you are singing about in Abyei will harm your people, but you could not listen. This Abyei issue could have been wisely handled without a fight.

Your foolishness you attacked the SAF forces withdrawing thinking that they were afraid of your police in the town.

Now the USA government, your only strong ally, has condemned the SPLA for the first provocative attack. President Barrack Obama himself has condemned the SPLA, though not happy with SAF’s response. But what is next?

Now the Khartoum government has taken advantage of your foolishness to attack them.

Here is what has happened as the situation is of now:

1/ SAF has captured Abyei and some other villages, driving out the Dinka Ngok populations to Warrap and Northern Bahr el Ghazal states in South Sudan.

2/ President Al Bashir has issued a presidential decree last night dismissing the Abyei administration. All are removed and Abyei now remains without the administration, but under the total control by the North, including the abyei town.

3/ The visit of the UN security council members to Abyei has been cancelled.

Now, where is your foolishness taking you? Are you not whining and complaining like coward kids?

Any further retaliation the North will bomb other South Sudanese areas like Warrap and also Juba. And if Juba is bombed before July 9, the invited world leaders will not come for the independence celebrations. It will look like a wedding without invited guests. Is this what your poor generals want?

Some of your coward leaders will not even attend the July 9 amid expected bombings by the North.

Abyei issue should have waited until July after we consolidate our independence and have access to …well, as independent country.

But because cowards are always emotional and quick to declare war only to regret later, they don’t act wisely like the brave.

Shame on you for losing Abyei foolishly.

SPLM must sent reinforcement no latter than today.

SAF is fighting the civilians and police in Abyei while the SPLA were deploy further in Abyei outskirt.

Now, this is a clear war. Salva Kiir must save the lives of civilian by sending SPLA immediately.

I am not coward but wise. Why did your uncles declare a war in Abyei they would lose so easily within three days.

I am currently communicating with my cousin at the frontline there and he is telling me that your soldiers are running away like women to cross the North-South borders.

Well, if you knew any thing about diplomacy you would not have faced this humiliation in the hand of SAF. You cannot sing about war you are not ready to fight courageously like men.

I was told that Salva Kiir feared to go to Khartoum since last week to discuss the issue of Abyei with Bashir. If Salva went to Khartoum, may be the situation would have changed. No invasion or dissolution of Abyei administration would have taken place. You fear to talk in Khartoum and also lazy to fight. What is it?

Militia and a northern supporter should be happy for short time but mind you your masters are not going to stay in Abyei for long time. A fool like you do not know the intention of Northerners until they hit in your village. They had used you before and are using you now to killing your own people but that will be short lived. It is a kicking of a dying bull, they know South is gone and they want to commit genocide before July 9th out of desperation. SPLA has the capability of hiring back and that is what the north have been dying on the hope to derail July 9th but they are deadly wrong. They have already lost. Burning villages is what the genocide criminals are good at but they will pay for latter.

The SAF had lost 11 soldiers , they did not retaliate upon the request of the UN and the international community for the sake of peace. That was not appreciated by the SPLA and was considered as a sign of weakness by them! They were encouraged by that and attacked a convoy of 200 soldiers escorted by UNMIS, carried in UN vehicles, killing 22 soldiers , still 176 not accounted for and completely burning one UN vehicle! The only armies present in the area was SAF and the SPLA forces!

This was delibrate, irresponsible and cowardly. If that was not war , what is war?!The SAF didn’t start this war. They swallowed the bitter ambush of 11 soldiers who were killed in the same cowardly action without any confrontation, only for the sake of peace, this time they can not.No army in the world will accept that.

Would the US army accept to be attacked this way?! If the US think that the normalization of relationship means killing our people and humulating our army, then we don’t want this relationship at all. We are doing very well without the US and will do even better! Do they think that they are rewarding us with the normalization of relationship? Well we don’t want their reward, let them keep it for themselves!

To: International community and the United States as a whole, you should take any neceassry action against indictment of Omar al Bashir.

This is clearly a violation, the North Sudan government have been repeated in many times and it has to end with seriously action against Khartoum government without any delay in my view. There are a numbers of violation which this indictment had beee done during the referendum election unfortunately, we haven’t seen any respond from the International community nor the United State of American, but this violation made by Omar al Bashir to invaded Southern Sudan Distrect and I think there should be a qucik action needed and fully commitment to let this indictment go or caught alive.

I don’t think condemention on offsensive alone will stop dictatoship man who was prasing Osama Bin Laden as a holy fighter, this is the man who have been showing too aggressive, too arrogant and still there is lack of action taken being observed. If the International community don’t action then, it is a big mistake because this is the government that, have been murdering 2.5 million lives innocents people and has been continues doing it over and over again. Not to mention the Darfur genocide, war crime exactly the way ICC Judges put it and crimes against humanity. The demand which we are looking for the International community to do it right now is not and will not be only the withdraw of Northern Sudan’s troops from Abyei Distrect but they must face a big punishment for invasion of Dinka Ngok chiefdom and for the numbers of violation they have been done since and now.

Don’t be surprise about what happen in Abyei. Salva Kiir and James Hoth Mai got secrete behind this incident. Dr. Riek Machar left for Commonwealth conference to Malaysia last Week in which Hoth Mai wish and announced an extension of 9th July on TV without clear factors. Now SPLA start attacking SAF on their way back to north. This has made it clear that the announced has been fulfilled as there will be no 9th July celebration party. But they don’t even realised that thing will get upside-down as Abyei is now I the control of SAF in less than a day.
But I have never hear any reaction yet from Salva and Hoth about Abyei.

    Dear all,
Let,s not be thinking too much on what has happened in Abyei. War is not a simple thing that one can just declared without putting the nation in picture and since our top leadership did it now without proper arrangement then that’s why you see most of lives were lossed in last three days at the border contested town of Abyei. At the current moment the world has advanced too much on how to go about with any emerged war. Our government thought that the degree of the war nowaday is still like the one of 1980s the technology has gone far in which let not defend only on ground forces, let use whatever we have at our hands then to sent our soldiers just like that while they were not well equipped. If we don’t increase more training on our Southern soldiers and purchase the important military equipment to arms our soldiers with still nothing will change from our side, because soldiers need the support of heavy artileries and military jets fighters to hit the target of the advancing enemy then from there the ground forces will do well in their mission. But war itself is like a game someone can defeat you today and maybe by next day you can defeat him or her simply. So now let’s fill our hearts with courage i hope the moral of our soldiers is so high and they will be dislodging the saf out of Abyei today. Our almighty God will not leave us be killed again by these notorous northern regime.

Neither Salva nor Machar will go or talk to Khartoum. Not because they are cowards, they are not !

They are shocked , astonished and surprised for the attacke on the SAF wihich they didn’t plan or approve. They don’t accept it and they cannot justify it.

The attck was planned and mastermided by the Abeyei son’s millitia..Edward Lino, Deng “Ahmed” Alour, Luka Piong and others. This all happened behind the back of the leadership of the SPLA and it’s millitary command. They are not stupid not to expect the consequencies.

Aeyei’s son want to risk the whole peace process and the interest of the people of the south , not for the sake of Abeyei but to maintain their grip over the SPLA, GOSS and the south in general. They are acting as a gang to maintain their grip over power!

They created all the mess happening in the south. They created the mess in the last convention of the SPLA, in the selection of the SPLA candidates for the last election with the exclusion of very powerful leaders within the SPLA . They want to maintain their over representation in the SPLA and think that they are the only educated people in the south!

Nobody in the higher command in the SPLA uttered a word , not even Pagan! This tells you the state of shock and the extent of the internal fighting due the ruthless gamble and futile adventure which was carried by the Abeyei’s sons millitia.

SPLA is losing its pride of being a brave and organized fighting force due to dilution from large numbers of former militias integrated into it and the lack of morale in the army.
Defeats suffered in Abyei are making some patriotic South Sudanese to question SPLA leadership and organization, both civilian and military leadership.
Last time, SPLA was defeated in Abyei and this time the case had repeated itself.
I think SPLA and GOSS had no war and defense strategy and our sacrifices to finance SPLA in expense of other development priorities are a waste.
SPLA during the 22 years of War with SAF had never been defeated easily like in the case of Abyei battles (this year and in 2008).
I think there is a morale and organization problem in the army which needs to be corrected.
The army need complete re-organization – we need all foot soldiers to be from 16 to 35 years old and anybody above that must be senior officers, military trainers, engineers, complex artillery gunners, pilots, drivers and intelligent and logistics/acquisition experts.
Any army composed of old dudes easily loss morale in battle and get defeated easily.
We must use Abyei losses and humiliating defeat to re-organize SPLA, our army was defeated last time and we did not learn from it and this defeat must not be brushed aside without actions to correct mistakes that led to this defeat.
As usual, we have to cry diplomatically to persuade Khartoum to withdraw from Abyei so that civilians can go back to their areas.
Escalating it further may make Khartoum to impose economic sanction on GOSS that depend on oil controlled by Khartoum.
In the future, SPLA/GOSS leadership must weigh all consequences before making hasty judgments and decisions that often result in erroneous actions as in case of this Abyei fighting.
SPLA/GOSS leadership and Abyei intellectuals should stop heavy drinking, running after beautiful girls and looting money but think critically about the future of South Sudan and Abyei economically, militarily and diplomatically.
Since 2005 till now, there is no single maize, rice, sugar cane or any other farming scheme in South Sudan. Our food, financial and business system is controlled by northerners and East Africans. We must feel ashamed for carrying heavy bellies developed with food from the north or East Africa while our masses including soldiers are suffering day and night – in hunger.
We must think twice on declaring wars at this time but instead we should think of how to feed our population, control our money system before hastily starting another war in Abyei.
Demoralization and frustration among soldiers and civilians is getting to unpredicted level in South Sudan due to economic difficulties and GOSS leadership must not underestimate this unless they are all fools.
My advice to SPLA/GOSS leadership is that, control your emotions and swallows your prides in the wakeup of this defeat to stop further escalations and instead turn this defeat to be a learning session on how to effectively defend South Sudan and Abyei in the future. Don’t start a war you cannot effectively control operationally including financing it.
    May God bless South Sudan!

This article is just a way to make the news easy to Southerners. The real fact is simple; Abyei is in the 1956 North Sudan. ICC rule was just drawing the map of Abyei. It doesn’t say where it belongs. The CPA doesn’t say that either. Both SPLM and NCP failed to solve the problem by conducting the referendum of Abyei last January. The talks were not going well due to uncalculated moves of Abyei SPLM figures. They SPLA/M Stray Abyei boys even followed Pagan Amoum’s insane and childish attitudes against the North. In fact, what are called “Garang Boys” are the real problem makers for both South and North Sudan.

I commented many times in the site that Abyei issue is a very local and tribal matter. SPLM and NCP should stop their nasty tactics and allow the local chiefs solve the problem and live in peace as they have been doing for long time. Abyei is a pastor land. It has no that much of oil. It is rich in better than oil or minerals. It is rich in culture and long-lasting coexistence between all the tribes in the area. Politics will never solve the issue – it can only bring instability and further underdevelopment and deterioration of the people there. All the inhabitants of Abyei and their cattle, wood, grass and water will be denied life. All will suffer – no winner. However, local chiefs can sit under a shady tree and reach a satisfactory solution in one session. They can bring peace if SPLM/NCP opportunistic and sick politics and war machines are removed from the area.

The position is also simple. The President of the corrupted GOSS should take a sever action on those who created this unnecessary mess. Alor, Leno, Pagan, the Jalaba Arman & Al-Hilu and whatever of the other notorious SPLA soldiers who set this fire have to go. Immediately! Right a way! A Presidential meeting should be held in a neutral zone to make one decision – Abyei belongs to all the people of Abyei and that they (chiefs) should work on it. South and North governments should only render help only. Full stop.

Although the North Army was pulling to the North in implementation to Kadugli Agreement escorted by UN soldiers, they were attacked and killed. SPLA has also failed to poll out from many areas in the North (including Abyei). The SPLA is also still in the Blue Nile and South Kodofan in a clear violation to the CPA. There is no single SAF solder in the- to- be- declared South Sudan State. SPLA/M violated the CPA in many ways and drove the North mad. SPLA is also making other violations in southern White Nile and else where. All are documented and known to the world.

Not the UN, not the West, the AU or the EU will help in Abyei dilemma. The US condemnation of the GoNS is for mere media consumption. The immature GOSS has put the entire world into trouble. In fact, no one trusts this junta. The West is having uncompromised values such as Good Governance, Democracy, Justice, Human Rights, Peace, Development and the rest of the international values. The SPLM/A GOSS have terribly failed, with no exception, in all these values.

Yes, the White House can call on SAF “to immediately cease all offensive operations in Abyei and withdraw its forces from Abyei.” But this will not be entertained by the North, because the West has been listening to “Garang’s Stray Boys” who are just applying to CIA posts, including the notorious Jalaba Arman, Agar and Al-Hilu. The GoNS will not pull out. They will fight if they are compelled to do so to the last Soule, as made crystal clear.

The UNSC delegation will collect the facts. The bitter ones and return to the SC with the shame committed by the notorious uncontrolled militia of the GOSS. The North will simply tell the world that Abyei is a Northern territory. If Southerners claim that Abyei is a South land they should come up with evidence. In meantime, Abyei will remain in the hands of the North with its all Sudanic tribes in the boarder pastor land, coexisting, inter-marriage and dancing together.

Isn’t that what it is all about?

Thanks for reminding me that Macar is in Malaysia! For sure if this happened , these Abeyei’s sons millitia wouldn’t have dare to play this dangerous game. Having said that, it doesn’t mean Salva is acceptying that either.

Nobody of the GOSS will say anything, not even James Hoth Mai, simply because everything was done behind his back. He is in a state of shock and confusion, he feels that Abeyei’s sons betrayed his authority and put him in a situation which he doesn’t like. He doesn’t war and he is not prepared for it!

    Nhomlawda,

Stop your culture of telling lies!

Which SPLA are you talking about? SPLA has never captured Abyei since 1983. It just got it through peace process which began in 1997 Khartoum Peace Agreement (KPA).

SPLA has never captured Juba for 21 years.

SPLA has never captured Wau for 21 years.

SPLA has never captured Malakal for 21 years.

And those are the main towns in the South and Abyei. So were did you get the so-called lost bravery and courage.

The militias are better fighters than the corrupted SPLA which most of its current generals spent time in refugee camps and foreign towns.

I know SPLA is always good at making mistakes, believing in violence which did not capture any of the mentioned towns for the whole wasted 21 years until peace process was introduced in 1997 Khartoum Peace Agreement based on self-determination of 1991.

SPLA would still be fighting in the bushes by now if Dr. Riek Machar did not come up with peaceful strategy on self-determination and excellent diplomacy that brought the CPA’s first protocol after his merger with John Garang in 2002.

So, it is not new that somebody else is needed to correct the Abyei situation, otherwise, it will take Abyei another 100 years.

The Hague case by Dr. Riek was a good move that determined Abyei territory for the first time in a peaceful and legal manner. Now you want to spoil it with your cowardic arrogance.

    US back off rotten cabage!!

To hell with you USA!! and I can say it loudly down, down USA and I am burning your Flag at the same time because I hate your being double standard!! Mine your business and let Sudan alone, take your doglike noses out of our interior affairs, the coming war is going to be tribal war and I don’t think you will fit in here!! You are not invited into Sudanese affairs anymore this time as the problem of Sudan is getting more completed with Naath (Nuer) now deeply involved in this conflict and Sudan army refluxing their muscles, General Tang in captivity and his people Naath are planning to…., go USA let us clean our home alone, Garang that involved you into our affairs is dead and his so-called CPA is also dead with him, now leave us!!

How could US condemn SAF when they are doing their national duty in an attempt to restore law and order in the region that fall under their administration after it was invaded by Dinka thugs in SPLA and started to fire at army convoy escorted by UNMIS killing at least 22 soldiers!! why no one condemn you when you were killing Osama Bin Laden even though he it is illegal since he was not trailed in the court of law and then proved to be guilty?? who authorises your toops to bomb innocence civilians in Lybia, Irag and Afganistan??is it not in the name of your so-called fighting terrorism selfdefense even though you are the most famous terrorist in the world!! stop your nonsenses and mind your business!!

SAF and the NCP have already given up a lot of things and if the villagers in SPLA/M militia were wise enough and stop behaving arrogantly like war winners it would have got away with everything and without any challenge, but instead the militia is behaving as if it gained the so-called CPA in battle field!!

You can see that when people Malak Ayuen, Bol Makuen, Pagan Amum and Marrial air their nonsense on their disorganised SSTV that still even part Arab or Nile satellite which is run by (Arab)

SPLM/A must now it didn’t win the war and gain RoSS through gun barrel in the battle like they elusively believe!! Now they have answered in Abyei!!
What sense it makes to exclude Mesiriya and other northern tribes from deciding Abbey’s fate? Is like excluding white and Afro American but allowing only the pioneer ethnic group, the Red Indians to decide the fate of USA!! Or not to involve white South Africa when deciding the destiny of the country!!

SPLA/M is to be blamed for this incident as Abaye is legally a northern state it doesn’t matter whether there are Dinka there or not as those were the very one that decided to move northward and have been living there since 1905 let them remain there or else let them move back to Dinka land leave Abye the land to north!!
SPLA/M must be disabled by SAF and General gatnaath ni Peter Gadet in order for peace and justice to prevail in our country Sudan or between our two neighbouring countries to be after 9 of July , we can’t go on like this with SPLA bulling people in both RoSS and Sudan!!

It is a high time for Sudanese to put things put right before the birth of the new nation in South, we Southern want to end SPLM/A’s monopoly of Southern affairs, this Dinka militia called SPLA is behaving as if it owns Southern Sudan just the way it’s dead Garang used to run South during the civil war he created with his ignorance even though his militia was too weak to fight the mighty SAF and A2 combined!! SPLA/M militia wants to run RoSS to in a Cuban –Chinese style, since some of their elements studied in Cuba, we must terminate the militia before it is too late I don’t think USA will have a chance to inflect its hypocritical influence in southern Sudan affairs anymore because we are in civil war , Garang is dead with his so-called CPA and we want new chapter to be rewritten as that nonsense CPA benefited only one tribe namely Dinka tribe plus some pupate Nuers such Luk Jock, Gat Hoth Mai and the list goes on!!in the expend of others except only some submissive tribes such as so and so!!

Congratulations to United Sudan armed forces for the job well-done!! Now, NCP and SAF taught the alcoholic Generals of Dinka militia the so-called SPLA an unforgettable lesson as they say in Arabic: jheil el mogafel la yepham el belkap!! Which roughly means: the clogged-up minded ignorant doesn’t understand only after a slap! SPLA militia is in the verge of collapse step it up!!

    Mr. Truthteller,
You are just a confused idiot blaming your people for what you don’t have an insight in. Do you believe that Friday’s attack on SAF was carried out by SPLA? Remember that UNSC delegation was due to visit the area, SAF were ordered to evacuate it and Sudan Government is facing post elections problem in South Kordufan State. Giving all these issues, north created this situation. Their own elements initiated this attack as a pretext to sabotage the visit of UNSC members and occupy Abyei as it is now. This would make SPLM get occupied with Abyei issue instead of backing the position of SPLM in South Kordufan State.
Remember that SPLA forces are not based in the north of Abyei where the attack took place, but south of the territory. Secondly, UNMIS said that the attackers are unknown. Their report didn’t said that SPLA ambushed the SAF. This scenario was just created by the north in order do what they did now and you ignorantly jumped their wagon and lashed out venomously on your people. Rest assured that SAF forces will not stay for a week in Abyei.
We Dinka are not cowards as you allege. We are safeguarding the interests of the South, but if you believe that it is a Dinka issue, then any war in Abyei will engulf the whole South and Sudan at large. Don’t sit over the screen and celebrate this devilish action of the north. Who is being emotional now? I think it is Bashir who just rush at things. How many times did SAF violated Southern territories from Northern to Western Bhar El Ghazal and in Abyei. Did the South reacted as they did now even though South is innocent. Out of emotions he dissolved the Kadugli agreement and Abyei Administration. What does the administration has to do with the attack? Abyei Administration does not have an army to order to attack SAF. Your Bashir should have waited to for the outcome of the investigation to exactly determine who attacked his army. A thief always react like that, but Abyei will not be taken by force if they couldn’t the South.

    Dear South Sudanese,

Abyei sons plus their unionists from a well known community of unionists in South Sudan deliberately want to drag the South back to war and spoil the independence process.

They want to start war with the North so that Bashir does not confirm his recognition of South Sudan independence, so that July 9 celebration of announcing independence does not take place on time, that even if it takes place the invited world leaders will not attend it, so that may be the North would reoccupy some parts of the South and the civil war reignited.

Those are their plans to destroy the July 9 formal independence celebration. Some of them are even asking for delaying of independence declaration to the end of the year in December instead of July. Something is going on.

These sons of Abyei must be very careful and shut up in Warrap state, otherwise the people of South Sudan will disown them and send them back to the North.

People like Deng Alor, Luka Biong and Pieng Deng are technically northerners, but feasting in the South and wanting to destroy the independence of the South.

You will not succeed guys, but reap the consequences of your evil plans.

    Truthteller,

you are really sick pychologically, and a damned tribalist, how would you divide the SPLM leadership into good leaders such as Riak Machar, and bad such as Salva Kiir. Is it because Riak is from your tribe, you are a tribalist who will never lead in the South. The war against Abyei was really planned by SAF long before the referendum in the South this year. remember the bobardmant of some parts in northern Bahr el-Ghazale State, in addition to the deployment of SAF around the Abyei region in March. in addition to the attacked over the SAF withdrawn from Abyei, who do you fool that the SPLA could attacked soldiers escorted by the UNAMIS? I think SAF fabricated all these things inorder to attack and take Abyei. Their accomplice Gen. Gatdet attacked parts of Unity State on the same day as I said yesterday. You who say that you are fighting against the Dinka are really blind to see this offense over the yet new born State. I don’t agree with those who called for counterattack by the SPLA. The CPA is very clear in the issues of Abyei, it can even be refer to the International Court. What the SAF, and the NCP want is more than Abyei, they want to undermine the announcement of the State of South Sudan, let’s then wait for that day. And if the International Court would not do anything, the South will retaliate as a country. May God protect the innocence in Abyei region.

What’s happening in Abyei was expected and there was even intelligence regarding this plan over two years ago, don’t worry people! The contingency plan is at work, its only a matter of time, there are deadlines and milestones that need to be achieved then you shall all see what will become of Khartoum’s tyranny.

I am not talking of the past but the present and the future, the today’s tack hammer has to be respond wiz other tack hammer and let me wrap up my message by toting up that, the unintelligent behavior I see with the confused criminal will attested what the Late Dr. John Garang said 2004 in Nairobi, that if there’s coming of Arab to Sudan in History, still there will be the going of Arab from Sudan, and now I believe so now as your criminal is making enemies all over the country……

NgunDeng have said cie koor tuok ke Pabiei “cie Deng naa look eeer, ca Abyei bi dhil ling”

People have been rejected by Deng, and Abyei might not be heard again. Those mistakes are already in NgunDeng word. Apadang Northern UpperNile territories, LuonyAker, Northern Barelgazal, and Juba will be disarray by enemy Arab Army before Deng drove them with heavily retaliation toward Khartoum.

“Nguen Deng Rol, ke nguen Rol Deng”
It means that Deng is Daring Arab and Arab is Daring Deng. There are some General that will taken by Arab and they will be Arab, according to NgunDeng. Might be those of Gatdet groups

Abyei Homes were burned down to ashes by SAF, and Abyei residents flee to Unity and Warrap state seeking refugee as GoSS generals in Bilpam Juba are packing up their belonging awaiting to leave Juba for hiding places in East Africa, fearing of SAF/NCP Air bombardment. Also I was told by my freind in Juba, President Kiir Mayardit was admit in Nyayo Hospital in Nairobi with shock for his fool decision by ordered his Dinka Militas to awaked the sleeping Lion in it’s own den.

Many questions are being asked, where are the Abyei boys? Deng Alor, Nhail Deng Nhail, Edward Lino and Ping Deng Majok, who always call themselves braves Padang Ngok boys who usual claim over Chollo Ancestral fertile land to be part of their territory by killing innocence Chollo peace loving people. As they now been cures by Chollo Children, elderly and young Women they have killing in the Villages of Anakdiar, Dur, Thou-Thothim, Abanim and Pij is now resulting to lost of their Abyei homes that burned to ashes by Jalabas.

Why don’t mobilize their Abyei boys go and recapture their home, and leave alone Chollo, Nuer, Murrile and the rest of Southerners. Abyei problem is Abyei problem or SplM/GoSS problem but not involve Chollo and Nuer.

    SPLA,

If u were behind the attack on the sudanese troops and the UN, then u hv made a BIG MISTAKE. To take a cheap shot at the SAF and think that everything is alright is a BIG MISTAKE. Who ever took the decision to cowardly attack the SAF, under an agreement to hold fire while the UN was there must be drunk under sum bushes. Was the plan to Defeat the SAF before the UN delegation vists Abeyi ? Or is this just another provocations besides harboring darfur rebels? Or trying to create chaos in South kordofan?

Even the US will stand and notice the unfaithful actions of the SPLA and the right of the North to defend itself now. And if they dont then they are also unfaithful and they will find themselves on the wrong side. Our security will never be more important than some economic sanctions and we will do whatever it take to secure that. And know that the SAF is more than capable of delivering.

I hope the SPLA by now acknowledge that they hv made a BIG MISTAKE, Such attitude will only make the people of Abeyi suffer because those r the people who will pay the highest cost of such attitude. And if u keep it up then the whole of Sudan will suffer, but the SPLA will run out of steam faster than u can say southsudan.

    Deng Mabeny,
My brother, it is unwise at this time to support war when we know we have too much to handle than we are supposed to.
Our GOSS had never thought like a government facing a serious enemy in waiting.
Within the last 6 years GOSS had not made South Sudan food sufficient.
    All food comes from the North and East Africa;
All money system is controlled by Kenyans and Arabs in South Sudan.
98% percent of GOSS revenues is controlled by the enemy they want to provoke now.
70% of fuel supply comes from Khartoum.
Much of income generating businesses are owned and run by foreigners – East Africans and Arabs.
How can we finance and operate a long term and wide scale conventional war without control of that vital economic system especially food, fuel, and money generating activities.
Let us just accept that we have a Government of Self Service (GOSS) in Juba; but not a government to defend South Sudan.
South Sudan should have been food sufficient by now, how long does it take to cultivate maize, sorghum, beans, millets, etc and take it to the market? Just less than six months. For the last six years, nothing like that took place; we must be ashamed for being good in eating and lazy in doing and planning our own food system.
We should accept defeat and cry to the UN to convince Al Bashir jihadists to withdraw from Abyei so that Dinka Ngok civilians can return to their villages.
We are vulnerable to wage physical war in which Khartoum will retaliate with physical and economic wars.
It is foolish to promote and support war in which consequences and outcomes are not favorable to the Abyei people in particular and South Sudan in general.
May God give South Sudan leadership wisdom to think and act wisely other than being carried away by emotions.
    God bless South Sudan.

This criteria part 14, state that the permanent resident in Abyei is the one to vote in referendum. It exclude transhuman dwellers.

Fact 1: Abyei may be indefinetly occupied by SAF creating a similar situation to that of the Israelis and Palestinians
Fact 2: SPLA can currently not put up a stiff military counter offensive, because it does have the best logistics and will be over-stretched in terms of manpower and equipment (Think of Athor, Gadet; Abdelbagi Ayii etc..)
Fact 3: The Govt. of South Sudan (GoSS) can not mobilise any more Southerners to voluntarily fight for Abyei. Many, especially Equatorians, who fought tirelessly during the 21 years found themselves, demobilsed, put to inferior positions in SPLA, while those late comer Dinkas were made generals and superiors. That is the case for many Chollo and other Southern ethnic groups
Fact 4: The international community is less inclined to put more political and diplomatic pressure on Khartoum. There is much elsewhere: Libya, Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan
Fact 5: No other Southerners will be ready to fight for Abyei. It is upto the Dinkas of Abyei or their kin and kith in Bor or Gogrial
Fact 6: The CPA is in danger of collapsing!!!And so is the independence of the South
Fact 7: Khartoum is ready to reinvade the entire South. The Transitional Draft Constitution of the S. Sudan should exclude Abyei from it. International mediation under UN auspices should begin. Entire Abyei should be UN protectorate.

NATO Shall Not Fight on Side of SPLM/A Over Abyei: The SPLM/A so-called leaders should remember that an independent country that cries like a child and ran to International Community for help every time is not really an independent country. This might affect its international recognition. They should remember too that the International Community (e.g. NATO) is not ready to fight for South Sudan now. They will only issue condemnation words and nothing beyond.

I am afraid Abyei will remain in the hand of SAF until South Sudan gets it back by itself in future. This is a fact we have to acknowledge when we write our petitions for help.

Thus, let South Sudan builds its strength first self-reliantly even if Abyei has to go for now. Once we are sure of our strength, we will automatically return what has been forcefully taken from us. Abyei shall not disappear on the map of the earth even if the SAF have to stay in it for some years to come.

Let the displaced brothers and sisters of Ngok Dinka of Abyei Area go to Warrap State and wait there until comes the right time to get their land back from the occupiers. They shall not be treated as refugees since they originally belong there.

May the souls of our departed ones in Abyei rest in eternal peace with the rest of our freedom martyrs. Long live the independent South Sudan.

Please seek medical attention before you and your family infect the whole southern Sudan!! We are the leading Medical Laboratory service providers in the country; we use the cutting edge technologies to diagnose HIV virus and other sexually transmitted infections or STI, using ELISA diagnostic test as screening test and Western Blot as confirmatory test so as to heighten the quality of our diagnostic tests! If the itching of your anus is found to have no correlation the above, then we will recommend you and your family to move closer to SPLA militia barracks for more dick sucking dosage and more anal penetrations by our beast time thing like horse and Donkeys as those animals have huge and fat dicks that can give animalistic sexual pleasure needed by animals like you!! You can take Abye soil and Jackal with you as their anuses need some horse or donkey penetration!! Stay toned and Abye is gone for good my monkeys brthers!!

U.S. condemns Sudan army’s takeover of Abyei and dissolution of council
Ya Truthteller, Mohamed Ali, Jallaby, Wise Fox, Ahmed Adam, Sam.Eto, Supporter of Naath Cause, Land of Cush and the likes,

Remember that Khartoum is playing with fire. It has a track record of military aggression since May 2008. Khartoum still believes that Abyei will be part and parcel of the North with or without holding Abyei Referendum that Omer Al-Bashir insists on including voting rights of the so-called neglected nomadic Messeriya of Southern Kordofan since 1905.

The only message that Khartoum needs to remember every time when it plans to provoke SPLA militarily is that SPLA is ready to defend its territory including Abyei at any cost and Abyei will never be Sudan’s Kashmir or part of North Sudan. Believe me or not. I would like to remind you not to be surprised when Abyei will become part and parcel of South Sudan. Can you imagine that Khartoum has started the process of facilitating the return of Abyei to where it belongs? The short-lived victory of occupying Abyei other than Halayib Triangle is senseless.

Egypt has warned Sudan repeatedly that any military move would result in collapse of Khartoum government and gain of more land from Sudan. Likewise, when a full scale war starts with the South Sudan, it will fortunately end up in changing regime in Khartoum to confirm whether the ICC-indicted war criminals are still there, hiding in the well-known bunkers located in both Khartoum and Khartoum North or not. He will not make it to another one in Shendi. The first three indicted war criminals are likely to flee the country but will never hide.

Deceiving Northern Sudanese and Arab world to solicit support on pretext that SPLA killed UN-escorted SAF in an ambush will never strike a chord. This miscalculated move to forcefully occupy Abyei by Khartoum-led government of NCP will not change public opinion on why Halayib Triangle was never recaptured by SAF from Egyptian occupation, Darfur peace process is steadily failing, Southern Sudan is getting its popular independence on July 9, 2011 in a broad daylight, economic outlook of North Sudan is deteriorating, widespread corruption and irreversible widening rift between the leadership of NCP in dealing with heavy-weight Northern opposition parties. These are facts that will never change anything on the ground whether by occupying Abyei militarily, enforcing unpopular Darfur referendum or wining elections in Southern Kordofan.

If NCP or Khartoum wants peace with all its neighbors, it should start valuing future relationship between North and South Sudan and improving individual economic outlook. Waging unnecessary war will only force them to flee the country unprepared and will never come back except to face domestic court charges of mismanaging the country and its valuable resources. Like what has recently happened to the family of the ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, properties worth millions of dollars will be returned to the state. The good news is that NCP is heading in that direction.

In addition, the leadership of NCP should remember what has happened in Tunisia and Egypt and particularly what is currently happening in Libya. NCP should not just watch it on TV but admit and expect under any circumstances that it’s already heading to Khartoum before freedom bells, not competitive interpretation of Quran to govern Sudan, rings on every door of Northern residents.

I repeat again not to be surprised when Abyei will shortly become part and parcel of South Sudan. It will have to go back to its root (South Sudan) geographically, ethnically, linguistically and culturally. Khartoum needs to refocus its effort on political or even military solution to get back Halayib Triangle from Egyptian military occupation but not Abyei that rightfully belongs to South Sudan before CPA, ABC and PCA echoed the same conclusion. Khartoum should never dream that it’s easier to take Abyei than Halayib Triangle. This is the first warning to those who want to play with fire. Watch out.
