South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) County chairperson, Jimem Riek Machuch confirmed the attack and said it began between 5.00am -7.00am local time on Saturday in Kueichar village, north east of Akobo County, near the border with Ethiopia.

He accused members of the Murle tribe from Pibor county of being responsible.

According to Riek, a group of youths from Akobo attempted to return to livestock, unsuccessfully as the police arrived at the scene of incident too long after the attack and were unable to do anything.

Riek said the Kueichar residents fled the area to Dengjok district. Still not sure of the number of displaced people, Riek said he has humanitarian reports to present to the state SSRRC and state authorities for the need for humanitarian aid.

Af resident of Akobo who wished to retain anonymity, told Sudan Tribune, “This is a very upset phenomenon in our beloved community, as the whole region is happily waiting for the joyous celebration to the soon to be Independent South Sudan Nation”.

TWO KILLED IN BOR

In a related incident, two people were killed in an attack in Makuch on Saturday, in what is believed to have been an attempted raid by Murle tribesmen.

According to eye witnesses, the attackers verged the village at 1.00pm to raid cattle and goats but were detected. They ambushed two men at their 60s, killing one instantly and seriously injuring the other who later died in Bor Civil Hospital on Sunday.

Two months ago, a senior UN official was killed in Duk county, north of Jonglei, forcing the UN to suspend their operations in Jonglei state.

When the UN Security Council team led by US ambassador to UN, Susan Rice visited Jonglei on 25 May to receive security reports from the state, the state minister of law enforcement, Duop Lam gave a full account of the 2009 to 2011 period.

Many cattle keepers in Bor have crossed the Nile River to seek asylum in Lakes state (of Aliap Dinka Tribe) and Central Equatoria state (of Mundari tribe) in Tereka County to escape attacks from Murle.

Jonglei: 4 killed, 4 children abducted in Akobo attack
TIME TO BEGIN LIBERATION OF BOR AND LOU NUER IN JONGLEI

We have just finished the S. Sudan lberation. Our next liberation will be on Murle. This liberation has to happen, otherwise, our fight against the Arab will be meaningless because a total freedom has not been achieved in Jonglei state and especially in our home counties. All we need is to gather our youth, where ever they maybe and then lead our next struggle against the murle for the next five years. They are our next oppressors and we have to achieve your our freedom at all cost. They are doing what Arab was not even doing to us: Arab was concerned mainly with oil. Murle is killing our mothers and fathers and abducting and selling our children. They are taking away our wealth in forms of cattle. Is this the community we have to work for?
We need all our youth from Bor and Lou Nuer including those that are driving tanks in Abyei right now, whose their children and parents are being slaughter in cold blood. This youth is from Bor first before they are from S. Sudan. They have to rescue their parents before they do any good to the public. This has to happen, otherwise life for our community will be meaningless on earth. This is serious, it will definitely lead to anarchy. Towns cannot accommodate all villagers. The murle needs to be defeated and faced seriously with destruction in order to stop this barabaric act that is not found anywhere in the world except in Jonglei.
folks, don’t wait for this Salva’s gov’t to release you from JIU and your other units to give you a green light. We just have to mobilize ourselves and do what Lou Nuer did in 2008 to Murle for five years. Murle will stop only when their lost is greater than their gain. This is the only medicine they need. All else will fail. Peace talks and police deployment will not work.

To those who worry about the ICC. Does the ICC endorse killing and selling of other human beings? And in their countries, what do they do to people who kill other people?
War between us and the Murle must begin as soon as the Arabs are out of the south.
This is the only thing that will stop them from raiding our elderly and children when our youth is busy in the army building South Sudan.

The Murle are following their 7,000 head of cattle that has been taken to Nimule and Moli towns in Eastern Equatoria State that is causing havoc to the local population by destroying the crops in the farms. Some Murle youths have been sighted in the area following the their cattle, a situation which would engulf the area in cattle rustling and causing insecurity in the area.
Nimule town is one of the town that is a lifeline to the people of South Sudan through which the essential commodities transported from Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania pass through. There is a fear that once the area become insecure, the whole of South Sudan would suffer, especially at this time in which Khartoum has blocked the transport of goods to South Sudan that has resulted in the recenet hikes in prices in the whole region.
It is worth mentioning that Madi, who are around the area are not cattle keepers, but are mostly indulged in agriculture and hunting of wild animals as means of their survival.
A committee was formed to address the issue of the cattle. A resolution was passed that the cattle should be taken back to Jonglei since it has abundant grazing land with less agricultural activities, but the owners of the cattle started accusing the Madi that they are collaborators of the Arabs and did not participate in the liberation movement instead fled to Uganda, Kenya and Diaspora as if the majority of the people in Diaspora and the neighbouring countries are the Madi.
It only takes hours for a resident of Nimule to cross to Uganda but months for some to go to Uganda. This implies that they had a real intention of leaving the country for good.
The insecurity in the region are caused by those who are against the leadership of Salva Kiir, so that he get all the blame of failing the people of South Sudan. It is time that our president make tough decisions otherwise the enemies of South Sudan would win in their conspiracy against him.

It is time to bring Murle to justice with out negotiation from GOSS. The should not be allow to kill people everyday without any good response from GOSS. any people who wanted to kill other people in South Sudan should be reported back to Arabs regime instead of reminding in South Sudan. we need peace and we are try of war that other people like Murle did not for fight.

    Marie,
I disagree with you due to the fact the murle cannot attempt to go to Moli and nimule.they will never do that because they can engulf beyond escape. If you are a Murle, then don’t let your people try it because non of them will never go back alive.

AM very sorry indeed for hearing the killing of civilians at Akobo county in Jonglei.I should not blame Murle because they were not suffered during the struggled on behave of our right with Arabs.

I condemn the killing of civilians back home in Jonglei State since people are almost to celebrate the new born baby which will excite everybody in the nation.

Murle never fought for Arabs and they will remain behind believe me my people,Murle doesn’t have good politicians in the Government of Southern Sudan even in the Military Army, they will face the consequences after declaration of our independent.

I term Murle as an Arabs origin because the killing of Citizens of South by Murle mark them to be on that side of Arabs.Sincerely,Jonglei State is the larger State in South and the people of Jonglei were in process to divided it in to two State,my question is,which State will accept Murle?

I will take my part one day to Murle because they are behinds us politically and educationally.Akobo county is where I was born and I shouldn’t keep quite when I have seen the wrong doers entering to our family affairs.

Murle have theirs counties and we have ours, then what is our relationships with them? Murle are fools and no way for Murle to Survive by this time around.

    Shame on you Murle.

What a peaceful Aden we were promised. Well done, GoSS. This is just the kind of atmosphere we are hoping for. This is how we attract foreign investors.

Congratulations. This is happening in a big city. What about remote rural places where there is no one to report anything, especially the atrocities of SPLA.

Imagine! For hours and no police or whatever moved to save the situation or hold the perpetrators.

    Cry my beloved South.
